Does anybody have any experience with this? It seems to show results similar to DNP in terms of fat loss. Any opinions?

As a prostaglandin its used in livestock as an abortifacient.

Consequently it's pharmacology and or pharmacokinetics are entirely unrelated to DNP, a substance (currently listed as a pesticide/poison) that uncouples oxidative phosphorylation which squanders ATP production for the generation of heat.

To that end much of the THEORY behind the use of prostaglandins weight loss agents can be summarized if you review the "Princeton Metabolic Diet".

In brief, studies conducted in rodents and to some extent patients with metabolic syndrome revealed prostaglandins increased the catabolism of fatty acids in BAT (Brown Animal Fat) as a means of thermogenic regulation.

That means the energy in brown fat ONLY might could be used for entropic processes! Of course the PROBLEM is adults have very little BAT.

Some researchers looked at increasing COX-2 (a prostaglandin precursor) activity in genetically engineered knock out MICE and discovered they not only converted more WAT into BAT but also "lost more" fat!

But.....

But as one might could imagine the supplement manufactures could care less mice were NOT humans metabolically, since they found "evidence" to suggest PGs could be "effective weight loss agents"!

BUT these BUTS made all the difference in the world for the following reasons.

1) Mice normally use and also have a MUCH greater proportion of BAT as their very rapid metabolism requires it.

2) Mice NATURALLY possess those metabolic pathways required to convert WAT into BAT

3) Increased levels of prostaglandins are a well established consequence of the inflammatory cascade and are believed to contribute to metabolic syndrome via enhanced insulin resistance

4) Neither the selective use of prostaglandins or PG inhibitors have been shown to be effective weight loss agents in humans.

5) FINALLY, all of the above factors (and then some) are reasons the "METABOLIC DIET" was rightfully relegated to another "fad diet" status!
