Cheap and easy sources of protein

Well of course, don't eat eggs. But everyone's talking about chugging egg whites for quick protein, but if it isn't possible then what would be the "next best" thing?
Tuna, canned chicken, sardines, canned salmon, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese off the top of my head.

Sardines are a cheap protein source and they are packed with other good stuff as well. And my second favorite cheap protein source is whole rotisserie cooked chickens from your local supermarket and if you want even cheaper buy whole uncooked roasters and cook them yourself

Man I can eat a lot of things but sardines just isn’t on that list. I’m going to try to incorporate some more chicken, eggs, shakes and occasionally some tuna for now and see how I like it. I can afford steak for now but once layoffs happen I can’t justify spending the coin on it.

I like the whole egg conversation on here. I think they're one of the most overlooked and demonized foods on the planet, due to the cholesterol and fat content in them. But they have a lot of micronutrients that we need.

Maybe I have been drinking the kool-aid a little too hard, but I REALLY like Stan Efferding's approach to food. Maybe it's not perfect, but it is very simple and easy to follow with tasty foods.

One thing to be careful with in egg whites, the avidin in the eggs whites actually binds to biotin and makes the biotin bio-unavailable and can cause biotin deficiency. Make sure you're eating a couple of whole eggs with your egg whites to ensure you are still getting the biotin and choline that is not tied up by avidin.

I decided to do what someone mentioned previously. 3 whole eggs with a cup of whites. Took a minute to eat it but it wasn’t bad. Thanks for the info !

I couldn't stomach them either but I started buying the higher quality sardines with no bones or skin and these are much better and not that far off of tuna in texture and flavor they are mushy and nasty like those other cheaper brands

Also liquid egg whites and pausterized raw whole eggs were one of my main protein sources but I had to give them up due to stomach issues that developed over time not ro mention the gas and accompanying smell were on a nuclear bomb level in comparison

I've done 20+ whole eggs per day for months on end and it didn't do much to my cholesterol. My doctor thinks it's excessive, but also said eggs don't fuck with cholesterol so just don't fat in his office lol :D
Fart .......damn fat fingers.

Whole food is king. Prioritize it over shakes. Canned tuna is good in a pinch but is kind of a shit food source. Shakes work fine and if bought on sale can be nearly as cheap as chicken and cheaper than steak per G protein. Do what you have to in order to get your cals in, but whole food rules.
for micronutrient intake im assuming? or do you also think that macros get absorbed better on Whole Foods vs supps

Combo, though supps have come a long way. I have yet to see myself or clients do consistently well on heavy shake consumption. And all my shakes (protein) are now accompanied by whole food. The biggest part for me though is knowing how to eat. If you don’t ever get accustomed to being full, 2 shakes becomes 3 shakes becomes 4 when you’re really trying to push cals.

So are you drinking a shake while you eat or just between meals?
