can’t stay asleep

hey all,

been dealing with not being able to stay asleep, and more recently, falling asleep, albeit i don’t see it as much of an issue. i get 4-5 hours of poor sleep and feel mid throughout the day.

stats:
6ft, 185lbs (around 12% BF)

my stack:
300 test (started with 200, slept fine on it) still sleep fine since upping
2mg tesamorelin pre bed
3mg tirz weekly

adding soon
70mg tren ace weekly

adding tren has me worried for how my sleep quality may end up.

i haven’t been able to consistently stay asleep and always wake up around 2-4 am, with my bedtime being 9pm. i believe i might be having a cortisol spike in the morning but I’m unsure what could be causing it. i eat a TBSP of honey pre bed to steer away from any possible hypoglycemic wakings. i also wake several times throughout the night to pee, even with being conservative of fluid intake after 3pm.

additionally, i haven’t been able to get good deep sleep (according to my apple watch)

i’ve taken:
400-1.2g magnesium glys pre bed (not much effect)
400mg l-theanine
5-htp
2-3g GABA
1200mg ashwaghanda (lowered my cortisol under the ref. range!)

i have trazodone and gabapentin on hand but i don’t want to start relying on them to sleep. i want to see if there’s any other drugs, tips or supplements that could help this sleep issue.

other stats:
training 6x a week
no anxiety, i feel kickass
eating in a slight surplus~ maintenance
5-10k steps daily
always wake and sleep at same time

If you get a CGM (just one will be enough) good chance you’ll see hypoglycemia just before you wake up. If not at least you can look for another cause.
i actually had measured my blood sugar for a week a while back- out of those 7-8 days i did, they all ranged around 80-90, except for one, for some reason saying i was 65, despite me not having any hypo symptoms. it was strange

3:30 AM wake is a classic hypoglycemic crash followed by a cortisol surge as your body reacts to raise blood sugar.

Just one possibility but a realistic one especially with a GLP. You wouldn’t see any daytime indication, and if you check after waking it’s too late to catch it.

Couple other supps to try

Zinc
Zinc+magnesium or ZMA
Magnesium Glycinate
Tryptophan as mentioned above (dont take w 5htp)
Glycine

My evening stack is usually

Magnesium
Zinc
Tryptophan
Theanine
Glycine

Couple days a week i sub 5htp for Tryptophan

I try to stay away from anything strong or prescription.

what would you intend to be the solution?
i've been having honey pre bed but i guess that hasn't been enough
would eating a rice cake or two when i wake help me fall back asleep?
or what should i do?
thank you by the way

So how do we combat it?

There isn’t a single solution. It’s very individualized, with many “patterns”, including food of course, but also activity levels, that factor into this. You have to monitor the 6 hours leading up to sleep, as well as the wake up window 3-4, first to confirm it, then to identify potential causes, make adjustments, and see what changes as a result.

You can attempt to fix it other ways first, and if you come up empty handed after everything else, try a CGM last if you want.

Good luck.

This is my bedtime stack and I sleep like a baby: (I’m also on Tren)

- Gaba
- 5-HTP
- Ashwaganda
- L-Theanine
- Magnessium
- Melatonin (5mg)
- NAC (I can’t take it during the day because it makes me sleepy.)
- Curcumin C3
seen supplements incorporate this formula, i'll try ordering one and using it during my tren run. thanks a ton

Trazodone will help, but gotta be stricter with sleep hygiene while on gear. You’ll have some nights where you’ll be falling asleep thinking it’ll be a good nights sleep and then you wake up randomly. And then ofc nights where you’re stressed and anxious, and the gear makes it worse. This can be minimized by strictness with sleep hygiene.

Also make sure E2 isn’t too high or low

And yes, tren will significantly worsen the already-existing sleep issue
