Bob
Bob,
O.K. Here I go again running through traffic, but I tend to have a little different take on it. First, I am not trying to recruit anyone, it wouldn't do me any good, I don't personally do it. However, I think you need some objective answers:
First, what is it? Some of the posts on here are correct: Quixtar is a sister company to Amway, the most successful and powerful direct marketing company in the world. Amway of course has received a fairly bad rep throughout the years due to so many people getting involved and failing to make the big bucks. In the mid - 90's, a couple of the successful people in Amway decided that the internet was the next great thing. They approached the owners of Amway with the idea, and was basically told, "we aren't changing things". However, after some negotiations, the company reach a compromise. Amway corporate would be restructured into a holding company, a product company, the traditional Amway distributors, and a new internet company. So what you have is a holding company that owns Amway, Quixtar, and the company that makes their proprietary products (Soap, shampoo, etc.) Quixtar was started as a pure internet shopping and order system. In addition, Quixtar linked with various other companies (MCI, IBM, Eddie Bauer), etc to distribute their products as well. Obviously these companies are eager to work with the company due to the huge numbers of loyal shoppers they bring. So anyway, there is the history.
As for the products and prices. If you can think it, they carry it. Protein bars, vitamins, dish soap, shoes, suits, bowflex, computers, cameras, peanut butter....everything that isn't perishable they have. Prices? Probably a touch more that you would pay if you shop around. So why would people pay higher prices?? Read on.
The opportunity. Let's say you get involved. You then start re-directing a small portion of your purchases to the business. If that is it, you aren't really going to do that much in the business. However, you are trained to go out and recruit others to do the same thing. You then get a small percent of commission on whatever they buy. As more and more people get involved, the % of commission you get goes up. At the same time, you start getting a discount on your own products. If you get to a decent volume, you are getting everything at 25% off, which makes most things cheaper than you can find anywhere else. Does this hurt the guys below? No...because you are putting more people "under" them which helps drive their own volume, discounts, and income up.
Is it a pyramid? First, think logically....a pyramid is an illegal scheme where the first people in are the only ones who make money....the earlier in, the more money you make. Note I said "Illegal". Do you really think a company like IBM would align with another company that was illegaly distributing products? Not likely. Quixtar is set up in such a way that you can actually make more money that the person who got you in. So what about running out of people? Again, not likely. Amway was started in 1960, and is still going strong. 40+ years and still going strong.
Now, why do so many people dislike it? First, this is not a get rich scheme. It is work....hard work. It usually takes 2 years of solid work to get to the level where you are making around $50k, and another 2 years to get to the point where you are making around 125k. Notice I said "Hard work". Many people get in, try for a little while, or try now and then, a year later they say, "I only made $50 a month....this doesn't work."
We are all BB here, so think of it in terms we can understand. Lets assume I am 6'2" tall, 250lbs with about 175lbs lean weight. I come to you and say "I want to be 220lbs with 200lbs lean weight." Well, that means I need to lose 55 lbs of fat and put on 25 lbs of muscle. You tell me, that is fully attainable if you work hard for 3 years. Great I say, and off I go. I decide that 3 days a week I am going to do cardio and follow a diet. The other 4 I am going to sit on my couch and eat chips with dip and cheeseburgers. Around month 6 I say, I don't think this is working, so I take a month off the program. Month 8 I hear a tape that gets me all motivated, so I go work really hard at my diet and cardio for a month, and see some gains. I think wow, that was rough, I am only able to do this for 2 days a week. Next thing I know, it is a year later and I am actually fatter and further out of shape. I tell my cousin, "that Bob...he designed a program for me that didn't work!!! I tried it for a full year with nothing.....it sucks. Did you know he actually wanted me to workout and diet six days a week!!! Not only that, but those guys at the gym are a cult!!! Did you know they actually all cheered for each other and would spot one another!!! I am so glad I quit!" So, who is to blame? Bob? I don't think so....yet me and everyone I know now thinks Bob plan sucks. In my opinion, basically the same thing with Quixtar.
With all that said, the most important thing you can do is get in with a good group. Quixtar provides the gym and the diet plan. The team you get in with gives you instruction on how to use the gym, how to plan your eating and workout schedule, and is there to support you along the way. Matter of fact, they might even introduce you to dBol, Winny, DNP and some Test. They call you up when you sleep in and ask if they can help take you to the gym. Understand?
Finally, I have seen a few people get into this and do nothing, and I have seen a few people get in...commit, and do great. I have a friend that bugged me to get in back in late 1998, and I said "no". He is now making around $300k a year working about 2 weeks a month. I know a bunch of other people who are making between 30 and 100k.....and I know a large group that still says, "doesn't work...cult...scam, etc."
Bob, I would say you have the info needed now. Next you need to ask, "am I willing to do what it takes?". If you answer yes, then screw what I or anyone else has to say.....go make it happen.
BTW....I do not do this!!! This is not a recruiting plan. However, I do know a very successful couple that is in this that will give you their take on it as well. If you want another opinion PM me and I'll get you their info. Again....NOT ME RECRUITING!!!
So why haven't I done it? When I commit to something I will not give up, and at this point I haven't been ready to say, let's go. Like I said, it is work....and right now I just want to sit on the couch and eat my chip-n-dip.
Hope this helps.....
