Bursitis/Tennis Elbow?

You know what works when I had tennis elbow? Deep tissue/Sport Massage! I had the issue for over 6 months and was like FUCK!!!! I told the massage therapist to watch around my elbow because it hurts. I don't know what he did, but as he was working around my shoulder blade/lat area- I heard a loud pop and a numbing feeling shot up to the tips of my fingers... then he went back and lightly rub around the area. All I know is the next day, NO PAIN!!!!!

Now every 3 months I get a massage.. It made a whole world of difference to my squat and lifting!
Nice! We have a masseuse every Wednesday at work. May have to have her try it.

Only thing that you can do is work around it, Ibuprofen low dose when not training and HIGH dose for training. Compression cuffs helps. The more you use it the worse it will get, fact ! As said do not try to work thru it.

I'm an ecto and small very small boned. Genetically a weak person muscles and tendons. My body does not take to heavy weigh so I have had may problems over the years. I have found ways to work around the injuries but even at that the tendons will get used indirectly thus hurt like a bitch.

So as I and others said NSAIDS for inflammation. Get a doctor to prescribe some Prednisone . But that takes time and needs to build up and then can through your sugar levels off. Many sides, but I have used it.

Good luck

Sorry if there was a pop and sudden pain relief then that was not inflamed tendons or tennis elbow. Does not , cannot work like that. Not saying that you didn't get relief but that's not what OP is describing. Tennis elbow cannot be repaired but only to grow into the repairing of tissue. No easy fix or all these people would just go get it fixed. Duh

Thanks bro! I'm working around it as best I can. Avoiding crap that hurts and lowering weight, which blows.

The only way to know for sure is getting an MRI...I just don't guess what I had, I actually got it confirmed by the dr and he suggest PT and if it doesn't fix my tennis/golfer elbow, next stop would be surgery.. I just don't pull shit out of my ass and say this will fix his issues. It's ONE of many options OP has to explore treatment. Massage treated my issues and it could help him.. Keep an open minded and never be afraid to try something new! Just because base upon YOUR understand and self-defeating attitude, it's impossible..sorry, in my book there's no such thing as impossible!

Screw an MRI. My guess is tendinitis and so far I e not strained it any more and it's getting better and I'm still making gains.

See guy this is ^^ right on. Unless you have a tear an MRI will tell you nothing. It is tendonitis and the MRI will not show it,. But yes sped the money to have them say "well no tear , it's tendonitis " ha lol

You didn't tell us what the doc confirmed it was...Oh let him operate, pay him...There is NO surgical fix for tennis elbow. Back to the drawing board and you Quack doctor kiddo

I've had more experience with this shit before you were out of diapers. You said you heard a POP so what did they tell you that was. Grow up and get real

PS: there are some stretching exercises that can HELP at best. But no cure or surgery.

I used to suffer from Achilles tendonitis as a teenager. One doctor told me to stop doing sports, recommended cortisone shots, surgery, etc. My parents then took me to another doctor who recommended biweekly massages. Within a month the pain was gone.

So, recently I started developing tennis and golfer elbow from not taking a much needed break. Anyway, it got so bad that I was having trouble picking up weights, stirring thick soups, etc. However, my gf is a manicurist and she does those hand/forearm massages. I asked her to do that massage around both elbows and the pain was unbearable, but the next morning I woke up with no pain. I'm not as doctor, so my advice is anecdotal, but massages seem to work wonders

That's frickin awesome

In the past ive had spurts of elbow pain/tendonitis. Honestly, what helped my tremendously was staying away from free weights and icing my elbow every chance I got.

Also, if you're really lean or using winstrol this could also damage your joints. When I use winstrol the joints in my big toes even hurt like hell and the elbow pain comes back!

I've been having terrible pain in my right arm (was my left arm last time I hit the gym hard) right around the elbow. It got so bad I almost dropped the dumbbell when I was curling.

What do you guys recommend? It's hindering my workouts, but I don't want to go lighter. Anything work for you particularly well?

I've had to drop most arm exercises and stick to 21's and reverse curls for biceps. Arms are still growing and triceps exercises don't affect the issue. I'm going to give it another week or two and try to incorporate some different curls and see where it leads.

Lol, I wish I was lean!

You got bad inflammation , you need a anti-inflammatory (NSAID) like Ibuprofen
either contact your Doc or stay on low dose NSAID until it goes down...
^^^^^this^^^^
But....having been through this recently.
Take the ibuprophen after you lift. It inhibits muscle inflamation and you want that to help grow. Immediately after lifting or asap ice it for 15 minutes and take 800mg ibuprophen. Do that again prior to bedtime.
You may also want to get an elbow support....12 bucks at walmart and they work well.
While your at walmart get some tiger balm and rub it in prior to lifting. It will help warm up the joint....which you want prior to lifting.
Otherwise change up your bicep workout as already indicated.
Typically it is a ligament strain causing the discomfort.
I also take a couple tylenol to help with the joint pain prior to lifting....then the nsaid after.

Thanks bro! Have you tried the copper infused supports? My wife got one for her knee and said it helps and some 53 year old dude at the gym swears by them.

No i haven't...do you think they actually work cuz of the copper...or just cuz of additional support?
Anyone else tried these?

There's been a recent surge in copper everything. Supposedly it is the copper that helps. Not sure, but two people have said the same thing about it. I'm about to get one and see if it helps. It could just be the compression. I'd be willing to try copper and non copper and see if there's a difference.

You must cease any elbow use until pain has stopped. then focus on strengthening the muscles around the hurt area. I had terrible knee tendonitis. I stopped jumping to dunk since that is what caused it. I let it heal since I couldn't even put on socks or walk up stairs. I focused on leg workouts at low wait at the PT. Then focused n proper squatting and leg workouts where I felt no pain in my knee. If you feel pain from tendonitis that means its tearing more and getting inflamed. So pain is not ur friend in this case. This is how I have been knee pain free for 5 years. But if I play ball and jump up more then 10 times it comes back. I had to stop playing babel which really sucked.

Also ice is not good in this situation since blood already has a hard time flowingg through tendons you want heat. To allow for an increased blood flow to the area. You can ice for like 5 minutes at most when needed such as before or after the activity.

Thanks bro. The pain is almost completely gone. I'll stick with my 2 biceps exercises for another week or so and go from there.
