Brolloks getting into PL

You're in a house! Fuck yeah!!

Fixed that for you, bro :) Seriously looking forward to dropping weight. It's getting difficult to cycle - I become a zombie over 310, which now happens when I glance at a tab of anadrol. Fortunately my strength does not drop off when I cruise, so maybe I can eventually regain my natty badge.

What are you looking to get down to? I was up around 270 my last cycle and could feel it, nevermind 310!

It's an interesting one, actually. The last dexa scan I did before this blast put my LBM at around 250lb, so at ~20% bf I can squeeze under the 140kg/308lb class. However, because I'm >45 there's far fewer strong guys able to get into the >140kg/SHW class :D

It's not going to make a difference to my lifts, but I reckon my teenage daughter will give me high 5's for being the strongest man in Australia (at my weightclass and in my age bracket in an untested federation).

Doesn't matter the context bro, strongest man is strongest man!!

Forgot to thank you for the vids you posted a while ago. It was a lifesaver, kind sir. I still have poor shoulder mobility, but no more pain. The lacrotch ball works wonders, especially :)

Anytime my man. That’s nothing. Reading about you putting up 400+ on bench at your age is fucking what’s something! Let’s go strongest old timer from down under lmao!!!!

Been quiet because lifting :D

I've added around 220# to my deadlift over the last three months through decent coaching. This was the second 1 rep set at 640 today:

I would've gone heavier, but knocked my left knee 3 times during the warmup sets :(

Goal is to get to ~770# this time next year, in time for a PL comp with a mate of mine, but mostly I'm just chuffed that I'm finally squatting and deadlifting heavier than I can bench :)

Shit looked easy. 350kg definitely possible by next year. You handle anything that heavy off blocks or on the trap bar yet?

Nope. Things have kinda steamrolled - squatting, benching and deadlifting with monotonous frequency appears to have a surprising synergy in improving strength - not long ago, I needed straps to deadlift more than 200kg.

I've done heavier rack pulls, but reckon my limitation is more at the bottom of the pull - I tend to not get deep enough back, which leads me to lift off my toes until I clear my knees.

Going to focus on deficits and paused reps for a few weeks. But yeah. I'm sure there's a bit more there if I belt up and use a deadlift bar.

Would appreciate any input. And old mate of mine suggested throwing back my head like the old school lifters do. Apparently it's actually better for your spine, but I'd probably fall on my arse if I try it.

I like deficits paused right off the floor for what you're talking about. I just use 35lb plates rather than 45lb plates to make the deficit, but you can stand on a plate, too. I just like creating the deficit that way because it feels more natural and you don't have to worry about standing on a plate and getting it oriented with the bar. But anyway, pull and pause right off the floor like where the bar would normally start and hold for a count. Not the half ass 1/4 second pause you normally see, but like a legit 3 or 5 count. Not only will it help with that off the floor strength, it will also force you into that optimal starting position because your body really has no choice but to get into it when you're paused like that. I find that 60-65% of 1RM for beltless triples is about right for these.

I was asking about the heavy weight from blocks or trap bar just because I had trouble with my upper back when I started getting into heavier weights and that seemed to help build that up. Looks like you've got some size to your back already and might not be an issue.

Love it man. My coach was onto the same shit today, and after the heavy weights he had me pull tripples at about 60%. Paused for 2 secs under the knee on the way up, and then on the way down too, which was more painful than the top sets :D

I have trouble understanding the lat engagement/chest upright cue, but that might be because I'm too tight to really get down deep onto my hamstrings. Somewhat similar to tucking my elbows on the bench press, but I think I'm finally getting that right, so there's hope yet.

I've done heavy rows and shrugs for ages, so my upper back is okay - probably as wide as I am tall :p I think it actually results in my hips becoming lazy because it's not hard to lock out yet.

I'm currently on a hypertrophy program.

Wednesday was:
1. Bench Press 6x8@RPE 7-8 (140kg)
2. Overhead Press 3x8@RPE7-8 (did seated machine OHP because my back was toast from the week before)
3. Dumbell Press incline 4x8@RPE7-8 (40kg)
4. Tricep Ext. 4x12 (standing 50kg db behind the head)

Thursday:
1. Deadlift 5x6@RPE7-8 (200kg)
2. Rack Pull (LOW) 4x6@RPE7-8 (220kg)
3. Hyper Ext. 3x10 @RPE6 (bw)
4. T-Bar Row 6x8@RPE7 (100kg)

Saturday:
1. Bench Press 3x6@RPE8 (160kg)
2. Close Grip Bench 4x6@RPE7-8 (120kg)
3. Lateral Raise 4x8@RPE7
4. Single Arm DB Press 3x8@RPE6-7

The next phase will include deficits and more targeted programming, but I'm feeling strong as fuck. Benched 210kg with relative ease yesterday, primarily because my arch and feet position has improved.

Running 500mg of test e and 1000mg of deca pw. Also 4iu of GH pd.

BW is stuck at ~335, but I'm looking really lean :D

Not much to update here, other than that I've FINE-A-FUCKLY come to the end of the high volume/hypertrophy block above. It just gradually dragged me down, probably because I'm not getting a lot of sleep at the moment due to work commitments. Generally 6-7 hours does me fine, but I've been sore and tired for the last two weeks

Today was bench day again: 6x6 @ 160kg. The one benefit of the increased volume is that my lifts are feeling really solid, and it's made it easier to introduce small tweaks and improvements.

I'm also keen to enter a deadlift-only comp to have a go at the WPC SHW record :D

Gonna feel good when your opener is 125kg over the record.

And not even sumo :D There's a lot of world records for the picking in the older age brackets considering the number of feds. Also it gets a lot harder to be heavy and avert cardiac arrest at an advanced age...

I was looking for a local novice or push-pull comp to do my first meet, and noticed there's a deadlift-only one in early December. I casually checked the Aussie records for the fed, which turned out to be blank. So obviously I was curious where the world records are at o_O
