Bike gains and tech

Ok sorry to everyone but i was a bit busy with school
CHAIN WAXING GUIDE
Ok, today i want to do a guide on chain waxing, like i always say it could be not perfect, if im gonna update something gonna write it here
First why chain waxing were oil lube works well?
1) wax is much cleaner lol
2) with sand and other shit get much less contaminated
3)some watt saving(depend on the wax)
4)chains last much longer
Cons of waxing
1)time consuming(or at least apparently)
2)not really water resistant

Ok so what we need?
My setup is pretty simple, there are much nicer setups but this works
So a camp stove with gas
A little pot(ofc dedicated to waxing)
Paraffin wax qty is pot volume dependant i say at least 200g(chain should be fully submerged)
Chain pliers(to remove the chain off the bike)
OPTIONAL PTFE powder (new chain 5g/100gof wax,old chain 1g/100g)
Gasoline
Denaturated alchool

Something to take the chain out without burning lol
Glass jar or something similar
OPTIONAL ultrasonic cleaner

This is my setup, could be fancier but no way im gonna pay for silca or some shit wax (to be a little bit faster but probably the same), probably gonna update it with a slowcooker instead of the pot because yes its slower but i can do multiple chains and its less messy

Ok starting from chain prep (its better to be new)
Starting from gasoline baths to remove the grease put it in the jar shake it a bit then leave the chain in the jar for some time(i think 15min) and repeat until liquid is clear
Then 1/2baths in alchol to strip it to metal
Let it dry

Waxing process
Put the chain in the pot (fire not already on) start the fire and let the wax melt with the chain(its not reccomended to put the chain in an already melted wax)
WAit until wax is fully molten
At this point close the heating(in my case the fire) and let it cool a bit, i usually do 10 minutes but probably doing a bit more could be better
Remove it (in my case with pliers but if u have a big pot u can do a chain holder with a steel wire coat hanger)
Now let the chain cool a bit and is gonna be gtg :)

Its easier to do than to write lol
Its funny that in a steroid forum u can find this things lol
I dont think that in most bike forums u can find it or at least everything seem pretty confusing
If someone read it and someone have some topic that ur interested let me know

Impressive write up! This is great info.

I have a question for the Boss

How does one go about getting the right fit for a bike? Is there a particular way to measure to get proper height and does it vary across the different types of bike such as mtb or road for example?

Its an interesting question here!
Im not really expert on bike fitting but i can say some things
Size of frames can vary a lot beetween brands and models on road/cx/gravel its usual to display the size as 54,56,58..... This number mean the distance from the center of the bottom bracket to the top tube, now with sloped top tube bike this size is virtual, so its measured like the top tube was straight but its actually lower, in my case i ride 56 road bikes and L size mtb
The size L could be compared to a 56/58 frame, in my experience if someone is beetween a side could be better to pick the smaller one so its more agile, stiffer and somehat lighter
Cranks are shrinking because if the knee go up less u can stay lower with the bar and be more aero
Saddles are pretty personal but dictated by objective things like the distance of the pelvic bones there are so much things that are important to say in bike fitting but i feel like i have to know more about it before doing a good post, i come back in a week or 2 with more objective data than get your saddle up until you feel efficient but if from behind you look goofy put it a bit down, the saddle thing is interesting because its somewhat easy to predict a possible good saddle
Btw the chain waxing i do it from around one year and an half, already knew it before but waited to change chain to do it the guys i know told me that was stupid (basically no pro waxed it, i think only campanaerts and someone else) now all visma team do it lol

Been a bit lazy lol
Today i want to talk about tge prototype bmc xc bike with 32 inch wheels
1753029608024.webp
Spotted in andorra,my opinion is that is 100% shit lol the advantage of big wheels is that in more rough parts its faster because it sort of floats on rocks/roots but in more narrow turns i guarantee its 100% shit because is gonna feel like a truck lol, also i suspect that the stiffness gonna be shit because spokes arent that stiff, also acceleration gonna be slow because angular acceleration= torque/inertia where here with inertia we can apptoxinate it with Inertia=mass*Radius^2 so is gonna be worse not only for the added weight on the wheels but also for the radius itself also the frame and fork is gonna be heavier bc it have to fit the wheels

Edit:i have few 29ers wheels i would be mad if i had to change them lmao hope its not gonna be the new standard

Vacation
a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; recess or holiday.
lol.

lol.
Or a period where you brake Wheel spokes and say blasphemy to every saint ever lived because i was 50k from the hotel and had to lazily pedal back lol and abort training
Btw wasnt spotted by me the bike lol
Maybe when i do the last race im gonna do 2/3 days to a week of real off season lol

Ok now i have to say a thing, i wanna talk about rim brakes and have to say why they are inferior basically in every way to disc brakes, im tired of the guys that say rim brakes are better, they are not!
First thing braking power, a good working rim brake dont miss that much power compared to disc brakes but disc its still superior
Second thing, maintenance: the maintenance is not harder on disc brakes, brake pads wear out much less than pads on rim brakes, and lets talk about brake track wearing out on carbon rims,ok i agree that now second hand rim brake carbon wheels are pretty cheap but they are still expensive compared to a rotor that are at most(like talking about durace so top tier) around 70 euros and personally i destroyed 2 sets of zipp 404 and i wasnt even braking that much, someone could argue that i didnt mounted them right that its possible but that never happened on discs lol
Braking force modularity: here i have to say that usually rim brakes are better but its also depend on how u set them up and also u learn pretty easy to brake the right amount, a thing that i agree is that on road brakes could be too powerful compared to the tyre grip and that can cause crashes for guys that dont have a good confidence with brakes or with rain, but talking about rain rim brakes with rain sucks specially carbon sometimes i was 100% scared for my life on carbon rim brakes
On aluminium most of these problems are managed much better for rim brake,so for example for a training bike or a novice rider a rim brake bike isnt that bad, its much cheaper(the guys that say that is an advantage arent that bright bc they are cheaper bc are older or generally made in an older way) and for the price are lighter(ive seen full aero disc bike at 6.8 kg that is the uci limit and its rare to go lower other than weight weenie/climb timetrial bikes) so its not that thwy are the defenitive bike but if u are on the budget could be a good idea, in my mind i would avoud them if they have carbon wheels

Nice bike!!! I have a special place for santa cruz, i remember i was reading a mtb journal when i was 6/7 seen an ad of a v10 (black and green if i remember) and i was stunned
Also nice components! The only thing i would change are the brakes, i dont like sram brakes lol but its a bit of hit or miss because of the master cylinder plastic piston that could react badly with dot fluid

I'd fold those wheels quicker than a soft taco. Don't worry, 32 wheels won't become the future. Too many sacrifices to frame designs to make it work.

I agree, btw way more mtbers than i thought in the forum lol
My main passion. I don't race xc anymore though. Too much upper body mass. Unless the course is really technical with short climbs. Then I place well in expert.
My jam is enduro now. Black and double black diamond trails.
Crashing still sucks though. Tore my rotator cuff when I bit it several weeks ago.

Enduro is cool asf, but i cant stand techical parts even in xc lol

Little trick for a quick brake rotors fix, if brakes dont brake as wanted it could be many things, usually its pads are worn out, rotors/pads are worn out, pads are crystalized by heat or brakes with air
If rotors are mildly oily take like a strong lighter(the one that are like guns) and heat the rotor but not crazy just a bit to give it heatz and usually its become a bit better
Also if pads are new to set them in and not crystalize them i suggest u tontake a bottle of water and put some drop on the rotor then start to do some brake, why water? To not over heat the pads and crystalize them!

My method... if the above aren't issues.
Remove brake pads, spray with brake cleaner, torch them with a tiger torch, allow to cool, sand with 100grit. Re-install. Also spray rotors with brake cleaner and clean with soft blue shop paper towel.
Re-bed brakes.
I've accidentally spilled mineral oil on the brakes doing a bleed and this has worked.

Its great for worse cases like spilling oil on the pads, its not bad before the waem up or even before being called at the start line to torch the rotors to be 100% sure

I seen they spotted a ktm front suspension bike with 32 inch wheels, they basically invented everything to sell now remain the super boost and 32inch lol imo they are dumb bikes
Btw i was watching a video about nino schurter mechanic

View: https://youtu.be/rin01mFnNkk?si=FtO_uRHBC5Qmsy1P

And he had some prototye parts like deralleur/cassette/cranks/powermeter i think they are just lighter but its funny bc the deralleur is basically a gx(the lower end of the new series) but with a much lightercage and maybe some part, so i wanted to nerd out a bit more and went to the website of a "boutique" brand that do custom carbon parts for deralleur ecc"hopp carbon" and i think i found out the full carbon gx is lighter than the full carbon xx sl lmao

Thats pretty random but if u have the mechanical xt or xtr deralleur check out the clutch rubber cover (where u acces the bolt to tune it) because it sometimes open randomly and it gets sticky and shift slow ecc, if it happen just spray something like wd40 and shift a bit (let the clutch work) and should be gtg sometimes u have to clean up completely the clutch but in my case the wd40 was enough

Also @irisi seen the messages posted im doing good its sad that u got banned, i tried in some way to get like a contact outside but couldnt ):
I think u should use ur main account and dont care if so shoot me a pm !
