best protein please

anything that is whey protein isolate should be good, concentrate is low quality (this is cheaper and what most powders contain). look at ingredients.

Concentrate isnt necessarily low quality, its just not as refined as isolate (roughly 85-90% protein vs 93+ for isolate). Both are good.

Lyle, do you cover when and which kind of protien in the UD book? I like to eat solid foods but do suppliment with shakes for convenience. Are the hard copy books in stock yet? Your web site said they were out. Thanks

Well, for the diet days I think protein shakes are a bad idea. They just don't keep people full. If you MUST use one, casein or a casein/whey is what's recommended in the book (casein being a better dieting protein IMO). Whole food protein with some type of dairy protein would be your best bet on those days.

For post-workout shakes on Thu and Sat, whey.
On the high calorie days, the rest of the time, it won't matter.

What people forget is that protein quality is really only relevant when:
a. total protein intake is low
b. total protein intake is coming from a single shitty source
c. calories are retricted

a and b are important for third world countries and most of the protein qualty research/debate is concerned with those folks. When you're getting 20-30 grams of some shit quality protein (like some piss poor grain or something) per day, quality is critical for life. When you're getting 1 g/lb of high quality protein, it's fairly irrelevant.

I mention c because, on high calories, assuming you're not eating some shit protein as your only protein source, protein quality will be pretty irrelevant.

lol, well this guy probably knows better then me, I'm just saying what I found from my experiences.

What experiences?
seriously, what did you objectivly measure in terms of anything (strength, mass, cuts, whatever) by replacing some other protein with whey? How many other varibles changed during that time period?

Lyle

whey

www.schwartzlabs.com

the best products i've ever tried hands down..

they spend all there time and money in research and not in marketing there products, that means a more affordable product for the consumer since they dont pay big bucks to advertise in muscle mag and other mags....

....i also have a discount code for 30% off, so i usually get 5lbs of whey (which mixes and tastes good) delivered to my door for $32.95....that price is hard to beat

Big A seems to know alot about Protein. He says, you get what you pay for,and i believe it. Just because it says Whey Isolate, doesn't mean it's all 100% Isolate, but i guess that's with all products. Better quality means less quantity and less quality means mo......... I would rather get the quality and not have to stuff my face with all that garbage, but what the hell do i know.

Whey Isolate has very low amount of growth factors compared to whey concentrate, therefore whey concentrate is more anabolic than whey isolate. Whey Concentrate is not an inferior product to isolate for this matter. Whey isolate is more anti-catabolic becasue of its higher BCAA content and quick delivery, but both should only be used post-workout or during workout and along with other protein sources at meals. For all other times, a milk protein/egg/miscellar casein/caseinate/beef plasma...would be best. a blend containing at least 1 or 2 of these will be highly anabolic and slow releasing. I personally use Dorian Yates Approved at these times and Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey with added dextrose for my workout periods.

As you can probably guess I am going to say Dorian Yates Approved. I have been taking the product for almost 6 years. I refuse to use anything else. One of my friends works for the min distributor in Canada. So I get a pretty good discount. They resently change there flavors so now they it tastes awesome too.

I guess you haven't tried it in the last couple months. They have improved the flavor and it mixes easily. Try it out. I amazing now.
