Atkins and cycling...

Anyone ever do the atkins diet while cycling? After all the years lifting and dieting and trying to dump the extra fat...I have come to the conclussion that I just dont have the genetics to eat a ton of carbs. I just blow up like a balloon..

I know the majority of you probably eat very high protein anyways, but who out there adds zero carbs? If you have any experience with no carbs and cycling lemme know how it went..

Thanks

re: Atkins

Im no expert but ive tried the atkins diet for about a month and found that I didnt really have the energy for my workouts and cardio. Ive found that what works better for me is an apple w/protien shake an hour before my wokout in the morning. The rest of the day is a small meal every 3-4 hours 30-40grams protein, 5-10 carbs, 10-20 fat. I do cardio later on in the day because i only want the carbs in the morning for my workout (despite the xtra carbs i still stay in ketosis). Keep in mind though my goal is not to be huge, just well defined. Hope this helps.

What drives the atkins diet is having some fat to burn for energy... I can see how you would feel tired on the diet if you dont have much for fat/energy already stored up..

I guess what I really want to know is if you are on the atkins diet, can you use steroids that would be normally used for bulking cycles and still lose fat?

I have read a lot of posts about either doing a bulking cycle or a cutting cycle, to try and lose weight and gain muscle at the same time is very difficult - and I agree with that...to a degree.. But I really believe that your body is gonna look the way you eat - regardless of the drugs you use..

I will be starting a new thread that will discuss some of these issues. In particular, I'll be helping one of the guys to set up a modified keto diet along with whatever supplementation that he chooses.

I am currently on the atkins deit and on a 8 week cycle of sus250 and the fat around my midsection is just disappearing and my body weight is increasing. My carb intake is 1banana a day and the rest is protein.
Works for me. Mind you if I eat bread i too blow up like a balloon. Carbs are my enemy.

I'll be waitting for that post.... please let us know when and where thanks

Yeah, I'd be interested to read that too. I know Getswole.com has like a bunch of all different diets, including some keto's. I'm not a big fan of Atkins, I think it's too stringent and does'nt leave you with enough energy to really work out..................................Mb

Get a cup of Shut the fuck up....that's funny,.lol.

If you are serious about a diet then check out swolecat at gotswole.com he is the man. I did the atkins diet and hated it felt like shit but i got better results on swolecats plan it's custom made for you, it's not free but damn is it worth it, i started at 330lbs and now down to 275lbs naturally and will be starting my cycle on 12-29-03. Can't wait.

Bump for Bob Smith to discuss a modified Keto diet.
Im just waiting for the person to get registered. He ran into a little issue that is being resolved. The new thread should be going in the next day or so.

I definitely got more ripped on a keto diet, but I definitely sacrificed some hard-earned size. Without the carbs, you just look and feel flat.

Bob Smith, I would like to pick your brain on this subject myself if I could. I always read that you need to pick between a bulking cycle or a cutting cycle, but you see so may competitors look fairly normal, see them three months later and they have 20-30 more pounds on them and are much, much leaner. How do these people make such dramatic gains while loosing fat. My question is can someone use a keto diet and make great gains while loosing lots of fat. I would say yes, cause what ever energy you lack from carbs will be taken from your stored bodyfat, as long as you are eating enough calories and protein to grow, correct?? Looking forward to the post and hope that I made some sense cause its 2am, and am tired as hell. Thanks bro. :D

atkins

i did the atkins diet...went from 305lbs to about 204 in 4.5 months. yeah it's possible. i went from sitting around all day drinking beer and eating shitloads of carbs to doing 45mins cardio 7 days/week and doing the atkins. i never counted calories but i would think i was eating alot more calories at 204 than at 305 even with all the shit i ate...

on the atkins...

breakfast
6 scrambled eggs with cheese/mushrooms
snack shake

lunch
a few Large burger patties with swiss cheese mushrooms
snack
shake

dinner
4-6 chicken leg quarters
snack--sugar free jello

so yeah, i ate like a pig and still lost all that weight! LOL i had pepsi one or crystal light to drink. i cant say i ever felt los of energy--if anything, i had TOO much energy. we're all different. carbs are my enemy too! i can gain lbs in a week if i start eating like what most consider "normal".

after i hit 204, i did my first cycle(dbol, enanthate, deca). went up to 230 with no increase in BF and kept all my gains. i may have been able to lose more BF but i stopped doing cardio b/c of the dbol. most of you know how it tightens up your lower back and the only cardio i will ever take part in is jogging.

The short answer is no, mainly because no carbs = low insulin levels. A keto diet is not optimal for packing on the mass, but it can probably be adjusted in various ways to make muscular gains possible (albeit not maximal) while keeping bf relatively the same.

I agree there, BS. Most guys that go keto or low-carb never have a carb loading phase to make the most of it. If I keep my carbs around 150g/day (not true KETO), and protein above 300g/day, I see the cuts I'm after w/o losing noticeable amounts of size. If I stay below 100g/day too long, I look emaciated! LOL!

Thanks for your response, what adjustments would you recommend. Keeping your carb intake around 150 daily, consuming the majority of your carbs post workout, carb load on the weekends??? Thanks again.

I wouldn't do an atkins if you want to get the most out of your cycle, the ckd/atkins is overrated anway.
