Everytime I start to use androgel-5, I get really unbearable headaches. Anybody else get these? Nothing seems to get ride of them except stopping the gel. Any ideas BROS?

FF makes a great point.

It is also possible that you have a sensitivity to some component of the product.

On the point of sensitivity to some other component, could you list the ingredients in the gel? Have you tried reducing the dosage of the gel?

The ingredients are: testosterone USP 50mg, carbomer 940, ethyl alchol 68.9 % , isopropyl myristate, sodium hydroxide, and water.

What's the longest period you've used it before discontinuation?

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but keep in mind that there are androgen receptors in the brain. I've talked to several AAS users who report mild to moderate headaches when commencing androgen therapy. This disappears after the first week or so. It's possible that the spike in androgens "shocks" the brain to some degree.

This anecdotal data comes from AAS users so it may or may not be applicable for those commencing TRT with therapeutic dosages.

If you have been taking the same med at the same dosage and this negative side is only intermittent, then it is not the Androgel.

I would explore the other causes of headaches with your doctor.

It sounds like a brain tumor to me.

Check out the possibility of migraines. You didn't describe the exact symptoms so I couldn't guess one way or the other but I do know that migraines are very finicky when it comes to hormones. Before TRT I'd get one or two a month. Since starting I've only had 3 total in 6 months!

However, just the opposite can be true. More test can cause an increase in em too. Get a checkup from yer doc.

Thanks for the info. Bro's. The headaches usaully occur during the first 2 weeks of use then taper off. So yoor probably right about the receptors. Has anyone heard of or used Testred (methyl test 10mg capsules). A Dr. friend of mine told me about it as a replacement for the androgel, but another Dr. said that it really didn't work, and to stay with the gel.

DO NOT use methyl testosterone!!!

I am not kidding about this one, BTW.

Sorry guys, the tumor thing was just a little medical humor. We need to get out more.

Thanks for all the info. Bro's . Hey SWALE what's wrong with the testred. The Dr. told me it was the same as the gel just in pill form. But from what I've read it seems not be as potent, and harsher on the body.

Let's not jumble info in two different posts into one and draw the wrong conclusion. Swale did not say that Testred= Methyl testosterone. He just said that methyltest is not desirable.
