Accutane hair loss?

I’m about to start a course of low dose isotretinoin 5-10mg a day. I’ll be starting at 5mg and probably moving up to 10mg. Just have some slight spots to clear up and want to shrink my sebacous glands. I’ve seen some talk about hair loss from this medication. Is it something to worry about at all on such a low dosage? I was thinking of permanently dosing 5mg after clearing up spots and shrinking sebacous glands, but will see later down the line, and that’s a different discussion anyway. I’m running dutasteride 2.5mg ED and RU58841 for hair.

No, 10mg will almost certainly have 0 effect unless if you have particularly shitty bottom 1% tolerance of the drug, like most of the horror stories you see on Reddit. If you don't, the other way that it might cause hair loss would be from it drying out your hair a bit, though this effect will probably be minimal at just 5-10mg. I noticed 0 hair loss while on 80mg a day.

I understand the fear runs deep, but consider that tens of millions of people worldwide have used Accutane over the last 45 years.

You can count the number of cases of documented hair loss in medical case reports on one hand.

Hair shedding, the same type of temporary shedding you experience after starting Dutasteride happens in a small percentage, and reverses after you’re finished.

10mg will help you get started, then you’ll probably get over the fear all tv bullshitters put out there, and you’ll likely move on to a larger, genuinely effective dose. You know what’s been discovered over nearly half a century of Accutane use? That the concerns medicine had about it, on the liver, permanent dry eyes, Crohn’s disease, were largely baseless (except for pregnant women), and that any kind of injury is virtually unheard of. The sides can be unpleasant sometimes, which is why some thought they must’ve suffered some kind of permanent damage.

Absolutely nothing to worry about.

Like you, I opted to start at a lower dose and here I am going into week 4 bumping it up to 140mg a day to get to where I want to faster and hopefully reap the long lasting benefits.

The side effects do suck — dry skin on face and hands, and severely chapped lips, all that require heavy moisturizing.
