This is simply a response to unreasonable firearms legislation. No one would bother with these plastic guns had the Feds not pushed people through barring and banning things like pistol grips, extended magazines, particular models, etc among many other things. What's more, it isn't exactly easy to hijack a commercial airliner , yet terrorists did. The idea that terrorists or criminals won't have access to these tools because they are against the law is flawed because these people aren't in the business of following the rules regardless. Bans and restrictions are not for criminals they are for regular people.Then there could be ways for terrorists to sneak their dangerous gear onto planes...if they are totally nonmetallic then it's possible to sneak contraband thru checkpoints, so patdowns and manual searches will become more the norm.
