16-Year-Old Janik Velgos Benches 340kg for an Unofficial World

kid is as strong as a bull but I can never respect a lift like that. That shit can't possibly count.

I may have got 500 with a rubber shirt, my feet under my ass and my back 8 inches off of the bench, just saying.

Lol

He's benching in a multiply shirt, in an equipped meet. GPC ruleset allows his feet to not be flat on the floor. His upper back and butt remain in contact with the bench at all times.

According to that powerlifting fed rules, his lift is valid.

But yeah go on tell us more about how you bounced 405 off your chest one time.

Next people will say that this lift isn't valid.

IDK about the shirt

But theres indications the spotters are aiding his lift

A brief chest pause is NOT noted

And no pause is noted at lifts end

As i siad theres several reasons the lift is unofficial

I don't know this federation but the most likely reason this is considered "unofficial" is that in order to set a "world" record in most feds at least two of the three refs have to be certified as international referees. This looks like a small meet so the refs probably weren't international refs.

You also are required to go through a gear check after you set a national or world record in most feds to insure that all of your equipment is legal and meets that federations standards. This is done immediately after the lift by one of the three referees. Based on this video no gear check was performed.

IDF about the particulars (some of which I mentioned earlier) but based upon the meets I've attended IPF rules are stringent to say the least and from what I can "see" in the videos, exclusive of the attire check, several other requirements were not complied with.

First off that's a GPC meet not IPF. Thus his head coming off the bench and his feet not flat on the floor are fine. There is likely no equipment check as he is lifting in multiply/unlimited class.

The spotters never touched the bar after the start command, the slightly uneven movement of the bar path on the way up is common and not a disqualification of the lift.

There was a clear start, and press command.

The bar was motionless on his chest long enough for a press command.

The lift was given whites. The only reason it is considered unofficial is because it looks to be at a small local meet. Official GPC records need to be set at a regional level or above as far as I know.

Was not a bounce, I'm just picky about what I would count as a good lift and I am picky on my lifts as well.

You don't need to believe for me to know what I have done.

I also know his lift is good in certain meets.

I never bounce flat bench and my hands were the only one on the bar.
