Expert Input needed for Newbie

Fellas,

Took a shot in the thigh the other day, have been doing this stuff for about 7 years and never had any terrible issues until right now. The shot was on Monday evening, today is Friday and my right thigh has become swollen and its getting difficult to walk on it.

Just want to know what this could be attributed to, if not an infection. I am very clean and take all necessary precautions. Hoping that I hit something and its just sore. Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

If it was just pain I'd say you hit something, but the swelling is what bothers me...I think you should have it looked at if it doesn't stop very soon.Good Luck

Hmmm... well thats not too promising..

I woke up this morning and I think its a little easier to bend my leg, going to give it another day or two before I start freaking out.

I figure if it was infected the spot of the injection should be discolored but other than the swelling my leg looks the same as usual, just a tad bit fatter.

I'm starting to think twice about this, and i'm starting to get freaked out about the swelling! Dude, maybe you should go in just to be safe.

I wouldnt know where to go and I def wouldnt feel comfortable going somewhere and telling them that the reason for this is because of an injection... anyone have another reason I could use why this may happen?

Just go to the emergency room or to a small clinic, you are protected by doctor patient confidentiality, you will not get in trouble. Your health is more important! Do the right thing man.

Leg Update:

Pain is going away but it is still swollen and now it looks a little red. If it was infected I dont think the pain would be subsiding.

I think its just because I am not a big fan of shooting in the thigh and when I do I go way too slow and probably do myself more harm than good while attempting to be extra careful....

Swelling is gone and pain is 85% gone. If anyone can explain what the heck happened to my leg I would greatly appreciate it.

MD said I hit a nerve and vein causing internal bleeding, massive swelling (entire leg, John Merrick style), I went too close to the front of the thigh, 2 ultrasounds, 1 MRI with dye injected into my blood and 1 trip to the ER. Be careful with the quads and only inject there if you have to. I have done over 100 quad shots before but I f#@ked up this once".

One time I was injecting into ny thigh and hit a nerve the dam syringe jumped right out of my hand across the room so I picked it up wiped the cat hair off and tried again

I used to have this happen occasionally, not so much anymore as i believe the areas i inject have become desensitized to it. But my belief is that you hit a nerve or a part of the muscle that isn't reacting well.

I would get golf ball size lumps with red swelling sometimes, and would be unable to walk sometimes for a few days. The swelling usually will subside after awhile. I've noticed over time that it doesn't happen as much in those sites as I contniue to poke there more and more. But it will happen again in virgin sites.

Well what was it you shot in your thigh ? Brand ? concentration ?ANd how much ? And needle lenght and gauge ? and where exactally did you shoot it? These would be determining factors in what caused the irritation
