What is the general thought as to how much protein per day to build size and strength. I always heard 1 - 1.5 grams per pound of body weight. Thanks
 
Thats a good figure to start with, just make sure you're getting in enough caloried overall, otherwise it won't make a difference how much protein you take.

1g per body weight is the norm to maintain what muscle you already have. Higher amounts such as 1.5-2m per body weight is the recommended to build muscle mass.
 
1 gram of protein and 1.5 gram of carbs per pound of body weight is pretty basic rule of thumb. Depending on how much you need to add to actually gain weight, or adjust because your lowering carbs and need to keep cals up, I have seen people eat as much as 500 grams of protein a day
