Dosing

I’ve spent some time now reading about how people are dosing and their results w Reta. My understanding is it’s best to start on a lower dose like .5mg and build over time since there’s a half life of about a week (?) Anyways I’m just confused why I see some people who start on a higher dosage and if that’s a smart way to go about it. What’s your experience been?

The pharma protocol established by Eli Lily starts at 1mg. Rarely, some people find that to be strong, so starting lower is always the safest, but it’s very likely unnecessary. Nothing terrible will happen at 1mg.

Okay yeah that makes sense, thank you! It was just confusing knowing that starting at a lower dose is probably best but seeing some start off the gate at 2.5-3.

Considering they want to minimize treatment dropout (and lost profit), Eli was motivated to find a starting dose the vast majority would easily tolerate.

It all depends on individual response. For example I'm fine on 2.5mg, but if I increase to 3mg I'm violently ill for over a week with every side effect imaginable. Always safer to start at a low dose and increase. I'd rather feel nothing from my first dose and increase next week than get sick for two weeks and have to lower it.

Yeah that definitely makes sense. I thought about it a little later and realized everyone has different tolerance levels. It just shocked me people started at such high doses, but I appreciate that confirmation:)

Jesus, I can't even imagine starting at that dose. I couldn't make it past 2mg a week. I started microdosing it and it did wonders but again, this is all person dependant. Start at .5mg; x2 a week, see how you feel for a few weeks and adjust accordingly.

Wild how different people react. I started on 2mg/wk and got nothing but very mildly elevated RHR, no feels to speak of. Inadvertently ran 1 week at 4mg (2x2mg) and noticed pretty quickly that I was taking something. Went back to 2mg and 0 sides/minimal effects. Figured I'd give it some time, but it's been ~3 months with no changes.
