Skin pain after Reta!

Hey everyone,

I’m from Denmark and my English isn’t the best, so I’m using Google Translate. I hope you can bear with me and understand what I’m trying to say ♥️

I’ve been going through absolute hell for almost 7 days now.

It started 7 days ago when I increased my dose from 1.5 mg to 2 mg of retatrutide.

The day after, I began feeling a burning sensation in my feet and could barely wear shoes.

Over the next few days it just got worse. I started getting a burning feeling up my thigh, into my lower back, and across almost my entire stomach. The pain was so intense that I couldn’t sleep with a blanket or have anything touching the skin. Even wearing a T-shirt was difficult. I felt like I had a fever even though I didn’t. I had no energy and couldn’t sleep at night.

Now, after a week, the burning in my feet has disappeared. My thigh still feels weak and tingling, but my stomach still hurts a lot.

I don’t know what to do, and I’m terrified that this will last for a very, very long time.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long did it take for the symptoms to completely go away?

Of course, I haven’t taken any retatrutide since this all started.

It’s a common side effect and always resolves no later than 4 weeks after stopping, usually much sooner.

It’s never permanent, no need to worry.

I really hope so!

I’ve never experienced anything like this before!
It’s honestly scaring me a lot.

I’ve read a bit about allodynia, but it doesn’t seem like other people had it this severe?

And that’s exactly what makes me so nervous.

Is there anything that can help speed up the healin
g process?

It's called allodynia and it's common with reta. I tried to fight it and waited over a month to subside but it didn't until i reduced my dose. Tolerance is different for everyone, for me until 3,5mg i was ok, above 4 up to 6,3mg it was unbearable.

I've read that some antihistamines help but i don't know any details, hope someone who used some can chime in and help you.

Purely anecdotal; but during my first week on Reta (500mcg - very low dose) I had pretty unbearable skin sensitivity.

Made training (grappling) extremely difficult, as every single pinch of the skin was so, so much more painful and irritating than before - Never really noticed it until starting Reta.

That, along with the elevated HR made training shit for the first 4 weeks.

Now 8 weeks in; Skin sensitivity has either mimimised, or my brain is used to it now - I think the latter is more likely, as new sensations can still be a bit sensitive for me.

Phew, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I understand how you feel. It’s unbearable!

It’s now been 9 days since my last injection. The burning sensation is still there, mostly at the lower abdomen and the flanks.

The rest has turned into an intense tingling. Like when your feet fall asleep — but just much, much more intense.

It has now also moved up my back…

I’ve tried fexofenadine 220 mg and ibuprofen 600 mg, but without any luck…

I really hope this end
s soon :-(
