Trt but want to run a small cycle (trt + maybe)

I’ve been doing TRT for the past few months. Also on the different GLPs to cut weight for much longer. I’ve lost about 80 lbs in the last 1.5 years. I have about 40 lbs to go to my goal weight of 200 but I want to focus more on muscle growth for a bit.

My current TRT dose is 200mg/week split 3x per week. I feel okay on it and my test is just over the upper ranges in the morning before a shot. I’d like to run a 500mg/week test only cycle for 12-16 weeks. I know the recommendations are generally to lose weight and it will be more successful but I’m just burnt out. I’m just wondering if there is anything else I should be thinking about before I do this after the new year as I plan on trying to get closer to my goal weight before starting.

Other stats info aside (height, weight, bodyfat, training split, diet, etc) I'm curious what your E2 looks like on 200mg a week?

I ask as there are a few directions you could take this.

In your intro post you said you just lost 80 pounds and have 40 more to go

And that you are using both test and hcg

You are overdosed

What does your bloodwork look like

There is zero reason to use more drugs when you are overweight. Use less.

You're not on trt. You're over weight and you're running a small cycle.

Well that is what my doc put me on. I am actually waiting to go to a different doc/clinic because I felt like they were just giving me as much as they could (but that is another issue).

Yea I’m on hCG (250 iu 2x per week) mostly to maintain fertility and will be cutting that out as I just had my last kid and I don’t care about that any longer.

I responded to someone else that I also felt like I might be taking too much for TRT and was looking for another doc.

I am getting up dated bloods in 2 weeks. They had me on 160mg and my free test was at 25pg/ml (didn’t check total). Estradiol was 51pg/ml so slightly high but no sides as near as I can tell. My current clinic seems to only want $$ since they keep talking about out therapeutic phlebotomy and other nonsense like that.

I workout 3-5 times per week. Less the past 3 weeks as my wife gave birth and I’m dealing with an infant. This is part of the reason I want to wait until the new year so I can get back on my regular schedule.

This is not advice, I am not an expert, I just wanna point something out that is interesting to me:

here in europe I experienced people get put on Nebido only (the long ester testoterone, which you take 1000mg of T every 3 months) to be at 4-6 ng/ml, which is per-say not the best value? I am no expert, but I found that interesting I guess different countries work very differently sometimes.

I’ve recently learned about that longer acting ester and was interested in learning more. Maybe I’ll ask the doc about it but I’m not sure it is common practice an my current clinic or the new doc (not a clinic so maybe more flexibility there)

I started TRT because of actual low T and symptoms (200 total and 11 free). So I want to use what will be most effective in dealing with that.

apparently its not so stable from a biochemical perspective and apparently a value of 4-6 ng/ml of T is still not the optimum since when you healthy you can reach 8/9 with Training all natural (allegedly). But I think the other guys here can surely speak more clearly on that topic. This is just information I gained as a beginner.

I don't understand all the hate you're getting. Nothing wrong with 200mg per week as trt. And I'm actually surprised, your goal weight is probably at a weight that will have you pretty lean. Not sure if it will be lean enough but you're probably only 20lbs off at the very most to be very lean.

At your weight it just doesn't make sense to try and bulk and add more body fat when you're already way overweight. And being that overweight you're going to aromatize to estrogen a lot. Also you said you have a newborn baby. Forget the cycle for now save it for when you're lean.

But you've been dieting for a while and if you're tired of dieting take a diet break. Take 6-8 weeks and eat the same foods you've been dieting on just more of them so you're at maintenance calories. Continue to train hard if you need a deload week in the gym take it. But if you continue to train hard there's a chance you may continue to lean out just a little while you're on maintenance.

Honestly, we only live once. Sometimes running a smart cycle is less risky long-term than staying unhealthy or overweight. If your bloodwork’s solid and you plan it right, it can be a powerful reset. Just be smart with health markers and pct.

It happens, I figured I would get some harsh feedback (not necessarily untrue but I appreciate some ‘tough love’ and that’s how I see it…maybe I’m wrong but I tend to assume most people have good intentions).
I’ve read a lot of conflicting information about TRT dose recommendations and figured I would listen to my doc to get that dialed in and then self manage since it will be cheaper.

It seems the general consensus is to hold off and not really bulk at the moment and I think that’s fair. One of my main goals is to continue building a long term health strategy so I can be physically able to keep up with my high energy child (the other will likely be the same). I’ve always been told that it’s easier to lose weight when you have more muscle so I’ll keep working on that without the steroids for the time being. I go enhanced when I’m leaner.

I am over dieting but I’m appreciate the idea of taking a break. It’s been a long few years so I’m just a bit burnt out but don’t want to stop seeing some sort of progress. It’s just going to be a mental shift!

Thanks.

I heard that. This entire conversation made me realize I probably should do more planning so I have a solid plan for the cycle and the PCT from the outset.
