If acne isn’t caused by a hormonal imbalance or diet issue but rather by seborrheic dermatitis, which makes the sebaceous glands overproduce oil, wouldn’t Accutane only treat the acne but not actually cure it since the underlying seb derm would still keep the glands active and the acne would eventually come back once you stop given that it’s a chronic condition? Wouldn’t a full-dose cycle of isotretinoin to give a reset and shrink the glands followed by a microdose routine make more sense?A meta study found the highest chances of never requiring a 2nd course treatment correlated with two factors: cumulative doses of at least 220mg/kg and continuing to take isotretinoin at least 51 days after full acne clearance.
The higher cumulative dose is especially important for permanently eliminating trunk acne, vs facial acne which can be handled with lower cumulative doses.
