Pitavastatin

Pitavastatin through my insurance requires a PA and costs $76 a month if approved. Through CostPlus Drugs 4mg Pitavastatin costs $50 for 90 days without insurance. You just cannot make this stuff up.

My Doc is sending the script to CostPlus.

CostPlus is the way to go. That's much better than the GoodRx price. It's about the same as the pre-shipping PCT 24X7 price:

Is there a way to get prescribed Pita to purchase it, TelyRx is like $150+ for the same supply? Would like to be able to source it domestically. Ik Indian pharma is solid but I am always skeptical and domestic is always better if price's match.

Just ask your doctor for it lol..

I just asked my Doc to fill out the CostPlus drug form so I can pay out of pocket for Pita. I’ve been prescribed Rosuvastatin for years and I want to change.

Moved to the US recently and trying to find a doc online that can prescribe chronic meds like statins in NJ. I never had a PCP before. "I hate going to doctor's offices"
Have you looked at Sesame Care, DoctoronDemand, or one of the many Telehealth doctors?

Ask that doctor who prescribes your labwork for it lol.
Even a nurse practitioner (not nurse) can prescribe it.

On my list, trying to find one that takes insurance, I got 0 co-pay, fully covered insurance. I manage to get free labs so hopefully at least a free appointment, idm paying for the meds, but wouldn't want to pay for a visit then not get prescribed. I feel like it's hard to get prescribe a statin for a person in their 20's, isn't the usual first step most docs approach to my knowledge.

I'm hearing from many people it's an uphill climb to get PCPs to prescribe it. Many are unfamiliar with it.

Use this method to get a prescription. If you have it sent to a local pharmacy, and your insurance doesn't cover it (most do), have it transferred to Costplus for the cheapest price.

For labwork I just hit up my local am/pm, however just discovered helixVm, took me like 3 days to get the actual bloodwork I want

appreicate it, thanks for the tip. I was pretty reluctant to go via a doctor, never knew it was that simple in the US.

You made it sound so simple, made me feel dumb.
Can I ask for metformin as well or other meds?

If you have insurance, it's worth trying to have it filled at your regular pharmacy first.

Worst case scenario is you use the GoodRx coupon and pay approx $90 for 90 days worth at your local pharmacy if you don't want to bother using Costplus mail order.

If you don't have insurance just ask GoodRx to send the prescription to Costplus.

I even asked my insurance point blank. Can I do any lab and they told me as long as the provider is in-network you can have literally any lab you want. If the lab is not in-network I still can do any lab but has to be filed under preventive which is usually what happens anyways.
