Advise for an Old Guy on TRT+

mid 40's, 5'10" 235 lbs - I posted my intro about training and gear history (pretty heavy for 5-6 years in my 20's, no PEDs for 15 years, TRT past year).

So my TRT doc has me written for Test 300 mg (i know, that's not TRT, but that's what the Rx is). I had been taking 200 mg for many months with a Free Test about 1.5x Upper limit of normal. Felt pretty good, but not great. Recently upped it to 300 mg and I feel incredible in terms of mood, energy, recovery, etc.. Current regimen is Test 300, HGH 4 iu bedtime, Tirzepatide 5 mg weekly, and some ancillaries / peptides. Where I need help is this...

My H/H prior to starting HRT was already high, 17 and 47 respectively. On 300 mg test Hgb is nearly 18 and HCT is 51-52. My doc also has me on Arimidex 1.5 mg weekly, which many have advised me against and which i plan to taper down to 0.5 mg weekly at most. I'd like to add in nandrolone 100 mg as I have in the past, with a plan to drop test to 200 mg so the total weekly load stays at 300 mg. However, it's also been suggested to me that I drop the test to 150 - 200 mg weekly and add in low dose tren, 60 mg weekly. My other concerns are lipids. LDL is mid 60's but HDL is always low. Usually sits in high 30's but recent labs was 30 on the nose. E2 was 35 on the regimen of test 300 and arimidex 1.5 weekly. My hope is that dropping the Arimidex to 0.5 / 0 will bump by E2 a little and hopefully help the HDL, but I'm also trying to get the LDL as low as I can (maybe even to 50)..

Curious what you all think makes more sense after lowering test to 150 - 200. Nandrolone 100 or Tren 60 per week, given concerns for H/H and Lipids. Will also be donating blood before I add anything, though I'm not sure that does much. Have been donating every quarter and my H/H doesn't budge (which is consistent with the literature searches I've done). As far as goals, i'm currently in fat loss phase. I've recomped / cut on NPP / Deca in the past with good success, and these are very low dosages. I like the fullness I get when depleted of carbs / calories. And a bump in strength as well. I was reckless in my 20's and never got bloodwork when on cycle. I know I tolerated NPP / Deca well but Idk what impact it had on my bloodwork. I guess what I'm looking for is a combo of lower test + anabolic to perhaps have less impact on H/H and lipids. That is, perhaps tren or deca will be lighter on those paramaters than the higher dosage of test (for me).

Thanks to all for any ideas / comments.

Watching.

I just started my self prescribed TRT. I plan on running 200-250 mg of Test C weekly, if bloodwork remains good. Ultimately, I want to add approximately approx. 100 mg Deca weekly for joint relief.

Looking at all options too.

Mine are already high. Will be donating blood prior to adding anything. And reducing test dosage.
@deadbeef
How often do you guys donate blood, if you do? A friend runs 100mg weekly and goes quarterly. I know everyone is different but just trying to get an idea of averages.

I go quarterly but I’m not sure it does anything lasting. I’ve read studies showing that it doesn’t work and you can end up iron deficient. I do it mostly because there’s not much else to do and I like donating since my blood type is rare. I might try every 8 weeks when adding in nandrolone.

I briefly volunteered with Red Crossand they had a power red donation option. I think you could do it 3 times a year? Might be worth looking into. I know the process takes longer but am curious it might be a good alternative

I'm going to look into this - I wouldnt mind getting 2 units of Red cells off and keeping my WBC and platelets

EDIT: just booked a power red. Seems like a better deal for those of us with H/H and RBC overstock. Thanks!

I've been donating about every 3 months. I'm going to do it every 8 weeks now though, mainly because it saves lives rather than because I need it. I do the vorck protocol for 1 week when I donate and that keeps my ferritin stable.

Of course I wasn't able to do the power red since they didn't accept my blood type for Power Red, so it's back to whole blood q 8 weeks for me. I don't mind it - i live very close to a Center and it's very quick, usually in and out in 30 mins or less.

Eat a single grapefruit daily or juice it like I do. Tried all sorts of crap, narangin, hemoflow(colossal waste of $),nothing budged. Saw a study online regarding grapefruit for lowering H&H and gave it a whirl. Was on my usual 150mg TRT, didn’t donate for 6 months, used grapefruit juice for 2 months solid and hematocrit was 47.5 at Red Cross before draw. Normally I’d be in the 51-53 range. Can’t tell you it’s a sure fire 100% remedy but it’s worked for me thus far. Cheap and effective. I mix 4-5 oz daily in my greens/reds powder post workout every morning.

People should listen to this. It's backed by a study, and it works. I do 1/2 cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice daily. It dropped my HCT from 52 to 48. I also tried narangin before that and it didn't do shit.

I know this was a couple months ago but I was searching about npp and came across your thread @RockyP. Did you end up running some NPP, tren, or deca? If so how did it/is it going?

I donate whole blood every 60 days. First time ever donating was earlier this year when my hct and hgb were high.

I'm not sure if it's in my head or if they are taking too much lube when I donate but it makes my right knee sore for a week or 2 after.
