Don't let the lefties gaslight you. They're not predominantly "picking strawberries". Have tried travelling through this mega thread which is grown a ridiculous amount since I was last on here.

Because it's the rich assholes hiring them for fucking pennies to avoid paying taxes and paying living wages to skilled workers that are the real problem.

Let's hire these people too poor and undocumented to say no to making shit money! Then not get insurance, so when they fall off the roof because "what's OSHA?" the taxpayers can ALSO pay for their catastrophic injury!

Roofing and sheet rocking were middle class jobs? I don’t believe this one bit.

Ever since sheet rock became a thing it was always a D-tier job done by immigrants who could get paid in cash under the table often to supplement their income beside their main job.

The entire point of sheet rock was that the labour and materials were a fraction of the cost of plaster and this is a trade everyone (not just companies, homeowners wanted this too) was happy to make 70 years ago.

Roofing is notoriously full of ex convicts and high schoolers who think they can handle the job since it pays “well” (until you fall off the roof and get told to walk it off otherwise you’re not getting paid or worse) and then quit after making a few grand because the work is insane.

These are probably the worst examples you could have picked of “skilled trades”.
