How Are CT Scanners Changing Airport Security?
Airport security technology has changed greatly over the last 25 years.simpleflying.com
Raman integrated with CT.
In order to enable rapid identification, there's been an agreement made between numerous countries to standardize "signature files" despite machines of different brands this new generation of "multi energy" scanners being employed. This way, when a new compound or item "of interest" is discovered, its signature can be rapidly shared by cooperating customs agencies.
This will allow much faster, AI "hint based" recognition, rather than a slower detailed scan, needed when prioritizing volume over the extreme precision they're capable of.
Without going into all the specs again, the sum total of the tech being employed in one of these devices, in the medical research setting, it's capable of analyzing a blood sample in a vial for its composition, a far more technically difficult task than what customs is using it for.
