I took it for 8 years. First couple years at 300mg and then the doctor raised my dose to 450mg which is higher than the max dose of 300. This was 10 years ago so things may of changed. First couple years it helped a lot and was some of the best and most productive years of my life but then it stopped being effective. At the raised dose of 450mg per day I experienced vertigo when stressed and it would come on so strong that I would have to pull over if it happened when driving. It was incapacitating.Well back at it this time, i got given wellbutrin for this dam depression, being super hesitant to try it, anyone have experience?
By chance have you seen a Psych Doc? I have read more then a few of your posts and it sounds like finding someone who you can trust, open up to and be honest with would really help you.Well back at it this time, i got given wellbutrin for this dam depression, being super hesitant to try it, anyone have experience?
Who has terribly bad anxiety? What medications do you take?
I get drug tested so i cant take benzos or else i would.
Gabapentin did help but in order for it to work have to take it 4-5 times a day. Which i would like to take something 1x a day.
Anyone have any insight?
I think you may benefit most by just abandoning all pharmaceuticals and substances for atleast 6 months, and then try and reach some kind of baseline. Ultimately, you have to do this eventually.Well back at it this time, i got given wellbutrin for this dam depression, being super hesitant to try it, anyone have experience?
Exactly, but i take gabapentin for anxiety too, and wanted to try and stop that, but its too hard at this point trying to taper downI think you may benefit most by just abandoning all pharmaceuticals and substances for atleast 6 months, and then try and reach some kind of baseline. Wellbutrin lowers seizure threshold, so whatever you do, do not take more Wellbutrin than you're supposed too and don't take any substances that also lower your seizure threshold or that could contribute to excessive excitability.
Wellbutrin is a a norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitor and a nicotinic receptor antagonist. It is more of an upper, which is a good thing generally. But it can also make you agitated or too stimulated because of the norepinephrine actions, so my concern is you would perhaps seek a downer to balance this tension, leading right back to the drugs you're trying to avoid.
OK i am doing this…. Its the only way. I give up, steroids it is!I think you may benefit most by just abandoning all pharmaceuticals and substances for atleast 6 months, and then try and reach some kind of baseline. Ultimately, you have to do this eventually.

I've done this before, as in stopping all substances. The hardest part is the fear of going without these substances which you rely on to function. Then you finally cut everything out and you realize you didn't even need any special substances to function or feel ok, and that there was actually no reason to be fearful about what would happen when you stopped using these substances.OK i am doing this…. Good call
Absolutely, thank you for taking the time out to write this. Absolutely, sounds very much like the plan. I agreeI've done this before, as in stopping all substances. The next advice is a bit of the opposite of what I just recommended. The first couple of months, you expect to feel like garbage and you expect withdrawals or whatever symptoms, and if you have any, they are actually over very quickly, and you are very quickly on your way to reestablishing your baseline. So I say take atleast two months of no substances. Then after that, you actually can take a few things without hurting your baseline recovery.
For example, one medication I would recommend is modafinil and caffeine is good (if you can handle it), just to have something to keep your energy up if you need it. And if you can't sleep, then use some CBD oil (no THC) and an antihistamine for sleep (I like ketotifen). You may have to accept a sleepless night once in awhile, but it's not so bad when this happens because the next day, you aren't even that tired, but if you were using almost anything else (alcohol, benzos, opiates etc) you will feel destroyed after a sleepless night.
In regards to gabapentin, I'd come off of it. Withdrawal is overhyped. Don't freak out. But cut it down, and come off of it. Your GABA system will heal within weeks or months, and you won't have anxiety anymore. It's like magic. It just disappears. You will always have difficulties that appear in life and things that severely stress you out, but you won't feel the need to take any specific substance to handle that stress.
All it takes is just stopping for 6 months.
But I am a big fan of supplementation and I would atleast take a high quality multivitamin throughout. I would take much more. Nutrition is critically important for healing.
You should try it. I think you will be reminded that you don't need any of these substances. Later on, if you choose to use substances again, you can surely do that, but you will be able to compare that version of yourself to the reinvented baseline version of yourself, and those experiences will probably feel substantially better. But you may not even be interested in these substances at some point. It depends how your individual life is.
Agree 100% benzos are an absolute nightmare to come off of.hey dude, i can write a book about anxiety. avoid benzos ofc like everyone said ofc. avoid ALL psychiatric drugs. you will go from a storm into deep mental hell with no time.
tweak your hormones, diet, exercise.
natural supplements can help; lemon balm, passion flower, apigenin etc the list is long
some safe 'meds'; emoxypine (i prefer mexidol) when it gets really bad
look into the root cause, childhood issues/abuse, relationship issues, etc....deep hole to dig but you need to do it
yeah...I did it successfully. 2-3 years of hell. fine now...but what a hellish memory i got.Agree 100% benzos are an absolute nightmare to come off of.
I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.
Disagree. Benzo withdrawal is highly overrated, and the reason you believe benzo withdrawal is so horrific is that you've been fed internet propaganda from what is basically a cult on the internet that was extremely successful at brainwashing people into believing in this benzo withdrawal hysteria. It's called the Ashton method. It's totally unscientific, yet it has been adopted as Gospel by the internet, and it's essentially pure fear mongering.Agree 100% benzos are an absolute nightmare to come off of.

you're quite the moron TBH. there are people who went through years of withdrawal hell after just taking 1 xanax a day for 7 day. yes, some are ok, but others are not. you play with fire either wayDisagree. For anyone who wants to withdraw........ depending on which benzos you are taking....you just lower your dose a few times over a few days or a couple of weeks.....and then you just.......stop.
Thats fine if you disagree but I actually went through the withdrawal myself and it was brutal, I told myself I would rather die at one point than feel what I felt.Disagree. Awesome will look into thoseKetamine (rx) troxhes/RDT every 3 days with some buspirone - no addiction. Some risk/breakthrough anxiety- pregabalin/Lyrica since you found benefit in gabapentin.
L-THP could help with sleep related anxiety. L-Theanine does a lot for a lot of people.
