Advice to get money to be independent?

Look for every way possible to keep from spending money on anything.

You gotta work to save money, but don't be like most fools today and buy stuff to impress others. These people are enslaved to materialism and how others view them.

I used to have lots of really expensive shit, I mean really expensive. If you had broken into my home ten years ago you could have made off with a couple of hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff easily.

I sold all of it and continued to sell and sell until I had very little left. I realized around 45 that none of that stuff was worth anything to me and I was better off without. My father is a hoarder, pathological. Last year I spent a week cleaning out his house and massive work shop that was loaded with so much stuff I'd guess there was easily a three hundred thousand items.

I think humans have this need to cling to material objects as some form of security.

So don't buy shit, just don't buy anything and you will find that not only will you travel through life much easier, you can move about and look for more opportunity and freedom, but you don't have to worry as you will find out that it doesn't cost as much to live as you think if you can learn self control.

If you had only enough stuff that it would only take you one hour to pack up and move, you'd never have to take shit off anyone at work, you simply pack up and leave. It's like a big F you to the world when you have learned the power of self control and no longer have to be a slave to the system.

This is so fucking important. I need to highlight it again. This is the number 1 financial rule for life. Do NOT. EVER. I repeat: EVER!!! buy something to impress other people!!

In other words: if you think you want something because this car or car modification, these clothes, this watch, this new phone, this laptop, this fancy gun, or even something like always picking up the tab when going out for dinner or drinks....then fucking sit back and analyze your values in life. Do you value THINGS? Do you value STUFF? Do you want the luxury goods and the luxury house/mansion with granite everything and heated floors and shit? Why?

Once you get to the point where you are wealthy enough to waste money on frivolous things: still don't fucking do it! Sure, if you want a newer car that will be more reliable, go for it. But don't lease and don't buy a "luxury car" like an asshole. Buy a fucking 2 year old car that has already gone through most of that initial depreciation. Get a reliable, good car that is nice and will treat you well. Fuck a beamer or a mercedes. Fuck all these crypto kids with their dreams of owning a fucking lambo, as though that is going to improve their life hahaha.

In the end, consumerism is just awful for your mental health. You will be a much happier person with a less cluttered house (especially a house that you can OWN because you were smart with money and able to buy it!), less bills to pay, and not constantly chasing after the next purchase because you just can't get no satisfaction.

Financial stress ruins lives. It ruins relationships. I've seen multiple people divorce or break up because someone has retarded spending habits and they are fucking the entire household over. Right now my best friend is living in a house they didn't really want, in a shit small town up north with horrible winters where they really didn't want to live, because that was "all they could afford". Guess what? He got a $30k lawsuit settlement years back and decided he was gonna not work for like 18 months and just blow all the money. Yeah...now he reaps what he's sowed. It's just crazy how dumb people are with money.

I would rather BE rich than look rich. I actually don't ever want to look rich, even if I won the lottery or some shit, I just want to look normal. I don't want females pursuing me because they think I look rich, I want them pursuing me because I'm attractive and have a good personality. Then later they find out how wealthy I am and it's this surprise. Humility and being humble is such an insanely overlooked and underrated quality in people nowadays. Be humble.

To step off the consumerism trap separates you from the insanity that is American culture.

Advertising is what America is all about. Images flashed into our brains constantly by people that are masters of their craft.

You're being manipulated into doing all sorts of things that are very hard to resist.

You're a kid and other kids have all this fancy stuff. You're a young adult and you're told to sign up for University and go deep in debt. You're now married and your wife wants nice stuff so there's more debt and it continues on and on and never stops and it drains you until you're old and you realize you can't keep up the same pace, but now you realize you made a major miscalculation.

Always ask when you do something, "Am I being manipulated", "Is there a puppet master pulling my strings", "Who benefits and who suffers". This isn't just when buying stuff, this is for everything you do in life.

When you start looking around at this system we have in this country, how easily the masses fall for the con, it can make you feel two ways. Glad you had the sense to stay away from the hustle and debt, it can also make you somewhat feel like you're in a bad dream and wish you could wake up the others so they to can step off the consumerism trap.

There's nothing to be gained by owning nice things. When you buy something nice you end up with a dopamine fix for a day or two and then you're right back where you started looking for another hit. This is where you have to have self control and when you master it you end up looking weird to others because you honestly stop giving a shit about anything other than making sure you have plenty of money to insulate you from all the bullshit of life because you know deep down what society is doing is basically trying to keep you in the flock doing the same crazy stuff they do. They don't want to be reminded that they're blowing it big time while you stand up on the hill looking down at them shaking your head that they won't wake up.

#1 Don't get married. 1/2 of all marriages end in a divorce. The other 1/2, you'll be stuck with some bitch who will run your bills up.

#2 Never have kids. Kids are a big drain on income and time. I ran across this kinda cute bitch lately, but she has kids. It would cost her $40 just to get a babysitter for a few hours to go do something. Daaaa

#3 You can make a lot of $ if you think logically, and don't let compassion get in the way. The world is full of stupid people, it's not hard to make a buck off of them.

My guess is, if you have to ask how to make $, you probably lack the ability.

You said you've made millions doing business with Chinese imports yet you can only seem to find a chick with kids lmao. You're a joke and a fucking lying sack of shit.

The point is not to find a chick.

There is no women on this planet worth getting involved with. No matter how great you think the relationship will be she will become a bitch and she will be gross and nasty when she's older.

Everything changes when a man hits his 40's and gets tired of the bullshit of life and wants to plan his exit, if you got a women there is absolutely no way possible to exit and more than likely she'll be spending your money faster than you can make it.

Do dude's love freedom or not, if you want freedom you can't have a women in your life, it's that simple. There's nothing impressive about some old guy working his ass off when he's 65 trying to make up for his lack of retirement. No one wants to be that old dude still working with that look of worry and dread on his face because he knows he's fucked. .

What a very negative perspective of life. Do you think this is the only scenario possible? For me, life is somehow more beautiful and more positive.

I'm an anti-natalist in that I view life as a negative. In other words it's best not to procreate and bring other beings into the world to suffer, that goes for all life forms with consciousness. No life----No suffering.

And since that is my position I don't see the need in romantic relationships either.

Sex is another thing, if you can have sex safely without getting an STD(I've had a really nasty STD that I thought was gonna kill me) then enjoy yourself.

How did I arrive at this path that most would consider depressing and dark. Especially since I never married or had any kids.

Simple, I had 5 step dads growing up. I even met one of my dads while I was eating my cereal before heading off to middle school as he came out of moms bedroom and introduced himself as my new dad. I've seen a lot of vicious fighting and arguments growing up.

I've seen a world of shit and I know the world is shit. I'm under no illusions as to how the world works. I wish it wasn't a huge pile of shit, but it is and there's nothing any of us can do about it except try to do our best to not cause harm to others and to ourselves.

You gotta face the facts, if this world was created by a supreme being he must have been a evil fucking lunatic to create a world where you live by killing through the most painful means possible.....you couldn't come up with a more sadistic system if you tried.

Life is just a 4 billion year old DNA looking for the most optimal way to reproduce, it doesn't give a shit what any of us think it only wants to reproduce and if you have the intelligence and means then you can make sure your DNA doesn't have a chance to do what it wants most.

I’m not very much unlike you in respect to having a negative view on life and this world, however, I’m reading everything you say and I’m left with the question: what is the point of amassing wealth if you’re not going to spend it on material possessions? If you have no kids or a woman/relationship, who are you passing your wealth along to when you die? Why amass wealth if you can’t take it with you? Sounds like a very empty and pointless way to live.

It's hard to get your head wrapped around not existing anymore, but that's just the way things are, what happens to anyone's wealth doesn't matter to the person that is dead.

Buying stuff seems to be more of an addiction just like food or drugs. Once you decide to stop and you catch yourself over and over with the temptation to buy something you start to get a handle on it and you eventually conquer it. Consumerism seems to be the national obsession, but if I went back to my house during the 70's we had very little in the way of possessions and I'd say we were having a lot more fun, buying stuff isn't fun at all.

I don't believe you should own nothing. I think every guy should have plenty of tools so he can tackle any task. Past that I don't know that a guys needs much else, except the basics like a roof, food, cloths.

Then why amass wealth, especially with no future generation to pad it along to?

Wealth is your insulation from having to do shit you don't want to do.

No one wants to be someones bitch.

I think 40% of people hate their jobs(I was in that camp, not because of the work, but because of the assholes I dealt with). Only less 20% report actually enjoying work(most of these people are probably boring in the extreme as they would rather go to work everyday then have their own personal interests and hobbies).

We aren't living in the time of the ancients where you can wonder around in a tunic and just hang out. Everything is private property, "No Loitering". There's a charge for everything, nothing is free in hell hole America.

I like having clean drinking water, simple healthy food, a roof over my head, a toilet seat that squirts warm water up my ass. Those can be had for not a lot of money, but you might as well make sure you don't run out before you die.

In hindsight, all I can say is don't be in too much of a rush to move out of your parents house. It might be irritating and you haven't got the freedom you probably want right now but life in the real world sucks ass bro.

It's all bills, bills, bills, money, money, money, and it's hard trying to stay on top of it all and move forward if you haven't got a good career and a dependable partner to share the load with.

Best advice I can give you is stay with your parents and enjoy free rent and easy living for as long as you can. If I could turn the clock back 30 years I would never have moved out of the family home and I'd still be living there now lol.

Rent, Mortgages, Bills, Jobs, Careers, Wives, Serious Girlfriends, Kids, Pets etc etc.....it's all a load of fucking bullshit that you learn to regret as time goes by and you get older/wiser ;)

Be committed to one thing in life bro....."yourself and your own happiness/contentment" !

Great post ;)
We decluttered and downsized our lifestyle years ago.
It's such a freeing experience when you stop being materialistic and just live life with the basic essentials.

We had a huge 4 bed home and we were constantly buying all sorts of expensive furniture and bullshit gadgets just to fill each room with random/pointless "stuff" that we didn't actually need or ever use. We were always trying to keep up with the all the latest trends too so a perfectly good TV, Cooker, Fridge, Car, Sofa etc always needed to be replaced every 2-3 years.

Consumerism is a disease !

We live in a humble small apartment now and we've never been happier :)

Downsizing is freedom. Lugging heavy furniture and piles of crap you don't need is dumb.

Aggressive advertising starts in the 1950's, prior to that it wasn't all that uncommon for a man to live out of a couple of suitcases. It seems there were still a lot of people that did that up to the late 60's and then homes started to pile up with goods.

And of course debt is the major driver for consuming. Debt is the entire purpose of our economy. Are you willing to go into debt and be someones slave paying for something you never needed. It's the idea that a product or service completes you as a human, that you aren't a whole person unless you acquire A through Z products.

It would radically transform this country if people suddenly stopped consuming. I mean anything at all. They held onto their old vehicles, they didn't sign up for a school that charges $10K a semester. Just dropped out of the market. Of course there would be immigrants that would gladly be the next round of slaves and so that causes the current slaves to worry about their position in life.

There was a young philosopher I used to follow on youtube that quit teaching because he found it actually cost him money to work. Between driving around to all these schools and the cost of doing so he just quit and earned a living writing books which brought in a little over $10K a year, because he quit everything he was able to live more comfortable and actually have a much more rewarding career because he was able to read and study a lot more and also build up his career with writing half a dozen 200-600+ page books before the age of 30. From his logic he went from teaching a class of 30 students to thousands of students through his $2 month membership he charged to be on his podcasts and interact going deep into subjects that would cost a fortune in grad school.
