Make Intra Taste Better?

So my coach got me using intra-workout nutrition, so instad of buying some overpriced intra supplement, I went to bulk supplements and bought what I needed by the kilo.

Today I made my intra-workout shake with 20g EAAs, 10g creatine, 10g glutamine and 20g dextrose.

I bought some Gatorade Zero powder stick to mix it all and give it some flavor, but this all tastes like absolute crap. I think it's actually the EAA's that are the culprit.

Does anyone have a way to mask this disgusting taste made by EAAs?

Covid may help. Many lose their sense of taste!
 
yea, I def have to figure this out, because it was unbearable today.
 
I've been trying to make some stuff on my own too and the taste is also a problem. I might try adding citric acid to mask the taste, lots of stuff has it for flavoring. Maybe you could look into that.. I know amino acids deff taste like shit lol

EAAs can't be masked. They are disgusting tasting. It just isn't possible as far as I have ever seen. I tried all kinds of stuff.. sweet doesn't work. Tried cinnamon, chocolate, honey, would much rather take them in giant capsules. Usually if I am gonna take them, I just mix them up with as little water as possible water and pop it back like a shot of liquor. Then drink something else as a chaser.

So I would say to bring 2 drinks with you. 1 is an EAA "shot" and the other is your main drink. Maybe ask your coach was he does about the EAA puke flavor.

I would rather take a shot-chaser of them, then sip the rest, but not sure if that's how it works to maximize the EAAs.
 
Perhaps I need to use a strong lemonade flavor, or kind of bitter-tasting fruit flavor, because the EAA's are extremely bitter-tasting. I used Gatorade Zero "Glacier Freeze" which is the a light blueberry tasting flavor.
 
Everything I've ever put these in tasted terrible. I resorted to just drinking before lifting.

With that said, I did later drink some products from Ghost and there's didn't taste that bad.

I would rather take a shot-chaser of them, then sip the rest, but not sure if that's how it works to maximize the EAAs.
Yeah, I understand where he is coming from in regards to having those EAAs present in the blood for your body to use to prevent muscle breakdown during heavy and intense workouts.. however, I personally I don't think that there would be a large enough difference from sipping intra-workout to just having some whey protein before hand or taking a shot of EAAs right at the start of your lifting session.

Especially with the gear you're on I just don't think that having a constant stream of EAAs into your stomach would make a difference vs having them floating around your bloodstream as you begin working out. It takes time for your stomach to digest even EAAs to some degree. It isn't like you're IVing them fornimmediate use..

HGH already prevents muscle breakdown and the amount of nandrolone you're taking is obviously hugely helpful as well.

The route I have always gone has been either 20 grams of whey protein 30 mins pre workout or a meal like an hour pre workout. But I'm not a pro or a coach either so what do I know? Lol

Idk but the thought of sipping EAAs for 90-120 mins sounds disgusting as fuck lmao.

The main benefit I see to EAAs is that they are digest so quickly. If whey isolate takes slightly longer...so why can't you sip a whey isolate containing intra-drink instead and just start a sipping a little earlier to give your body time to start breaking it down by the time you begin lifting? I would think it'd achieve the same goal to at least ALMOST the same exact level. Definitely not gonna be the thing that makes or breaks your IFBB pro career you know?

This is my opinion too and is why I always just prefer a pre-workout meal or shake.

The point of an intra is not to ‘prevent muscle breakdown’

that’s the purpose of training, to break down tissue.

the purpose of having eaa, dextrose (glucose) is to directly feed the broken down tissue with nutrients that repair and or start the repair process. The dextrose replenishes the glycogen used up during training.

it’s about being ahead

As well, an intra drink should be finished before your done training, I start sipping mine on the way to the gym, and then start taking larger drinks as training starts and am done before I start my last movement, refill with water by then.

I agreed with this myself, however, I noticed a difference while I was working out: I actually was sweating more and felt literally no fatigue. Also, the dextrose will increase your insulin and drive the nutrients into the blood, with the assistance of the muscles being worked out. So in a way, you are taking "slin" by increasing your own with the dextrose. Is it necessary, no, but apparently makes a huge difference in recovery. I did legs yesterday, and I feel no soreness today. And this is good because I workout 6x a week, only taking off Sundays. So if this gives even the slightest edge, I'll take it for that reason.
 
I get all the science bs behind it, but just use some quality whey. Drinking liquid shit isn't worth it.
