Rippling muscle disease/Alien gains

I had never heard of this before and just looked it up. It seems like it is pretty minimally impactful for most people who have it. I couldn't find many pictures of it though. A few pics of guys who had a little ripple/line across their pec. Then some dumb blog about "Joe Linder" being so lean that his "muscles look like ripples" and that "it turns out that is a disease". lol...the guy looks 100% normal, aside from being pretty jacked.

I don't know that there would be anything that could be done for it. It doesn't seem to cause any physical issues, just aesthetic.

According to a an NIH website: rarediseases.info.nih.gov:
"There is currently no specific treatment for rippling muscle disease (RMD). Management is said to be supportive and based on the symptoms present in each person. In some cases, symptoms overlap with those of other caveolinopathies. Depending on specific symptoms and severity, management may include:
  • Weight control to avoid obesity
  • Physical therapy and stretching exercises to promote mobility and prevent contractures
  • Use of mechanical aids such as canes, walkers, orthotics, and wheelchairs as needed to help ambulation and mobility
  • Social and emotional support and stimulation to maximize a sense of social involvement and productivity and to reduce the sense of social isolation common in these disorders[1]
Only case reports from the 1980s report the benefit of dantrolene (a muscle relaxant)and calcium channel antagonists in two patients.[5] However, we are unaware of any current, well-documented treatment options.

For people with immune-mediated RMD associated with myasthenia gravis (an acquired, autoimmune form of RMD), immunosuppressive therapy has reportedly been effective in improving the symptoms of both conditions. For this reason, it is important to recognize when RMD and myasthenia gravis occur together.[6]"

Do you have it or know someone who has it? Is it causing you issues? Or were you just curious about it?

I have it, yes. Only limiting in some minor ways, which are sometimes humorous. Like walking up stairs. Pick up a leg to put it on the next stair and the quad spams and pulls my leg back down, my foot doesn’t make it to the next step and I fall on the stairs. There’s a correlation between amount of androgens run and the severity of it. It can be annoying enough that I have to allow for a couple spasms while reaching back to grab my coffee off the table. Leg day can be really fun, that’s when it’s actually somewhat uncomfortable. I think MPMD did a pod on it.

This is interesting
I get fucked up spasms when I bend my knee after it being straight for a while and my quads ripple for a few seconds.

looks cool as fuck, but its pretty good damn annoying.
I should take a video of it lol

Also both forearms near the elbow.
Twitches every fucking time I bring my arm down from scratching my head or holding a phone.

Never had any issues with training though
You’ve been stricken. No, I’m able to train perfectly normally. Between sets trying to stretch on leg day is where I run into issues. My quads seize when trying to get my foot into my hand to stretch them, have to allow a couple seconds for them to loosen enough.

That's it right there.

I only have it on my teardrop though (Quad) in my legs and exterior forearm... no where else.

I'll take a video and post it tonight, it's pretty cool looking.
Doesnt hurt at all and doesnt effect me whatsoever, but it's a thing lol
I cant set it off as easily as the guy in the video you posted, but I can still det it off with particular movements.

Still no video

I was getting this " allien gains" effect when i was on anavar. Especially in the pecs, tris, lats area. Was really unbearable and crippling. Could get that dozens of times throughout the day, just with normal movements.
At a point i was certain i somehow developed this disease
Stopped some weeks after i quit anavar.
Maybe DHTs also develop this effect somehow, at least they did for me.
