Need some advice

So out of the blue, with no major injury, my knee started to hurt when doing squats or any other movement where I bend my knee, like lunges or leg press etc..

Went to an ortho and after an xray he said it was patellar tracking and sent me to PT. 6 weeks later they released me without fixing the problem.

A year later I saw another ortho who did an mri which showed no structural damage. He gave me a cortisone shot which did nothing to help.

I'm extremely discouraged and at a loss for what to do next. Should I just go to doctor after doctor until in get an answer or what?

What kind of pain? Where is it exactly? Does it intensify with load and/or flexion angle? Do you have it when walking/is it worse certain times of the day?

And no, fuck regular physicians for this shit.

It's lateral pain in the front. Think top outside of knee cap where the quad meets it. Pain increases with load and flexion. It doesn't hurt when walking and doesn't intensify at different times of the day.

So quad tendon pain it sounds like. Patellar tracking would normally be under kneecap and feel like the front of your knee. How’s your ankle and hip mobility? Can you get knees past toes in an unweighted squat without your heels lifting? Any notable tightness on any of the hip flexors/inside or outside of thigh?

So I did all of the tests that the guy has you do on squat University. I could do them all except for squatting without pain. I think my mobility is fine and I don't notice any tightness. I'll take a pic of my knee and point to the painful spot in a few minutes when I get home.

Also I just squatted with knees past toes without heels coming off the ground no problem. Even tried it without shoes

I'm struggling with knee pain as well. They said it's a tracking issue, which is wearing down the cartilage in knee. PT says he thinks mine is weak glute and hip flexors. I've been doing his excersises and haven't seen any significant changes.

How long have you been doing PT?

6 weeks. I have a feeling I need to go back and make them treat me until it's better
I would if you have insurance, the squeaky wheel gets oil. Maybe the can send a referral to a lot cal sports medicine person. You could reach out to the local college sports department and ask who they use for their athletes. Just spitballing.

I went to the same place that treats a lot of high level athletes. The thing is, if you're not one I don't think you get the same level of attention. They wouldn't tell Tom Brady to modify his activity, they would fix his fucking knee. You know what I mean?
