Construction thread... Show off your work!

@Logan44551
My wife did the exterior insulation while I put on the roof (I fucking hate roofing)

The finished product will be stucco, so there will be another layer of Mesh, with an ungodly amount of washers, follow by vapor barrier cementitious spread... another layer of cup washers with another layer of Mesh and cementitious,..... before I do the stucco application.

So I figured it was safe to let my wife play around with the insulation,
Its ugly, but I think she did a decent job for her first time.

This is the house that @Human_backhoe and I have been building with our wives in our spare time.

Looks good!

Any trim carpenters here? I need to know what is the best caulk for filling nail holes on baseboards and crown. Painters dap shrinks and leaves a dimple. Any suggestions?

I’ve always used the drydex for crown and trim. I use the pink shit that turns white when it’s ready to sand and paint. I’ve never used caulk for nail holes or trim. But I’m a truck driver no carpenter lol

For base board, I use a LIGHT gauge nail and shoot the fucknout of it.
You can actually cover it up with paint if you go light enough.

If I dont have that option (5/8 board, or a lath and plaster) I'll go with glazing putty.
No.58 or some shit.
Will never shrink and takes the paint well.

But honestly, dap will do it unless you have some pretty decent gaps and holes.
You'll only get noticable shrinkage for large ones

Drydex like @HIGHRISK mentioned works great.
Just dont go too hard on the sanding, nice light grain sponge or you'll just expose your hole again.

ive been building my daughters a carport for their cubby house and a vegie patch, especially for my eldest daughter, after surgery if she is a bit reluctant to go back to the outside world then i thought i might aswell make our backyard her world
