Are calories king, over macros

Macros mainly come into play when trying to preserve a certain physique.
Really? What ratio of macros should one have to "preserve a certain physique?"

Eating dirty? What's that?

Any peer reviewed articles to support anything you have said would be great too, or if you have another source it would be great to know where you are getting all this from.

Nothing I’ve said was outside of mainstream knowledge. If I knew the number “one should have”, I would be a billionaire. That number is what a lot seek and some find through years of experience and learning their bodies.

Mainstream misinformation you mean?

I was about to PM you stating that there is a lot of things that science cannot explain yet but you are attempting to do so.

You are spouting off a bunch of verbal diarrhea and without a source to back anything that you have said up, besides "mainstream knowledge." I hope you aren't relying on that information for your personal benefit! :)

About eating "dirty?" What do you or the mainstream consider dirty?

So you are saying people have found the ratio but don't want to share it?! That's rude!

And you wouldn’t be wrong. That’s why we know this information, yet we still post threads asking redundant questions. Those numbers are different for everybody. I could pull out textbooks from my nutrition degree I never completed. I could find 20+ reliable sources stating what I have. I could copy and paste videos of successful Olympia coaches repeating me (Although it is me repeating them). One man can gain more muscle on less protein than the next given hundreds, maybe thousands, of different variables. Cues the infamous “try them both and see what works best for you”. Shit, I’m by no means anywhere near an expert and I’m still learning as we all are. I didn’t state numbers or a formula on what works. I just gave a very general basis on different metabolic pathways proven through science that are learned in the first semester of becoming a nutritionist.

This isn’t a how-to on how to build a PB&J. You know what the term “dirty” refers to when talking about diet on an AAS forum. Think McDonalds.

What does a nutritionist consider dirty? You don't want to answer because I will use that against you. Keep in mind if you are here to learn it helps engaging people. Being wrong means you get rid of an untrue belief. That makes you smarter believe it or not.

Fine! Here is my point, you were probably going to say fast food, sodium or fats as "eating dirty. "

Fats and saturated fats are needed for healthy functioning. You agree?
I think the majority of people have a bad understanding of what "healthy" or nutritious is.

I would say eating “dirty” is eating to much sugar and sweets. Not fats and sodium.

Dirty in my case is food full of pro-inflammatory substances and ingredients (hydrogenated vegetable oils and such), meat that’s processed into a fucking light pink goo. I’d even consider eating pizza and ice cream on a daily basis “dirty” (although I love them), but it’s more of a low micro:macro content. Yes, you can get technical and make macro-micro-friendly pizzas and deserts; I’m not talking about these. I’m talking about a plain cheese pizza with extra cheese and grease dripping in puddles. That’s pretty dirty and I wouldn’t expect to feel great if I ate them REGULARLY.

Yes I do agree. A lot of high-macro foods still contain substances that are good for our health. You could also flip it and say some of these same foods contain an over-abundance of substances bad for our health more-so than grilled chicken, veggies, and rice with a little salt and pepper (and whatever other herbs and spices you’d like).

If I were to read a multitude of reliable literature stating different than what I have, I would be completely open-minded to it. I just don’t find it anywhere.

I really like your response! I think it is important to define your terms and use very precise language.

Because I can eat one MCD cheeseburger every day and I could have an extremely healthy diet with that. So it kind of depends on how you construct your calories so to speak. We need fats and proteins though, that's why people that go vegan fail because it is extremely difficult to find high natural sources of it. That's why we ate meat in the first place, we could kill other animals and their meat is high in nutrients. You have to eat like 2lbs of spinach to get 2k calories. And who wants to do that? How can you even do that? I think the body would refuse and vomit it up. The body controls everything :)

Sugar? As in carbohydrates? What is wrong with short chained carbs?

Sweets? What's that candy? AKA Carbs?
No they are fine. Just usually eating to much of sugar or simple carbs ends up increasing ones calories. Since its so easy to eat.
Increasing the calories to much causing excess fat.

eating a handful or cup or juice or sweets pre workout or post or intra is actually beneficial.

And you wouldn’t fall over dead eating it daily. I just gag trying to eat a MCD and don’t feel good eating like that all the time. I’d rather make a 1/2 burger at home with fresh fixins and better quality meat (as far as I know).

I was listening to Chris Aceto talk about one of his competitors who threw up from eating too many veggies because they were starving during prep. He also said Jay Cutler grew on small amounts of food compared to other, but he also had to take his calories down to 1,000 to get him stage ready. We’re all so different.

1lb of spinach=104cals. 20lbs of spinach would be 2080 cals.
OH SNAP!
Thank you for the correction, damn it's that bad even. Lol vegans, thinking with their heads eh?

There are good vegetables and stuff, but don't do that 100% of only one thing. That's not a good thing.

I'd load up on potatoes and carrots with vegan butter.

The only issue I see with eating dirty is yes...you will get bigger and stronger, but I put on a lot of body fat as well. Instead I focus on a leaner/cleaner bulking on a moderate surplus of calories.

Like others have mentioned, it really depends on your personal goals. My goal is to put a few lbs of lean mass each year, while never going above 13 percent body fat...ideally closer to 10%.

Given that calories are made up by macros

It’s all about

The amount of cals

In the correct ratio of macros for what your trying to do

Depends on genetics too. Some guys can get away with a lot of junk. I think overall clean eating makes me feel better, better digestion, and healthier.
