RPS meets

A buddy of mine competed at a RPS meet and said it was his favorite meet ever. Well run and well organized. That was 2 years ago in Newark, NJ

Gene Rychlak started that federation though and was president and main driver behind it. He passed away a couple weeks ago. I don’t know if his passing has changed anything. It’s been around for a while now.

I saw that on their website about the founder. Its a shame, sounded like a good dude. There's a few meets in my area over the next few months. Thinking of doing my first meets with them. RPS seems less strict than USPA (who also does a lot of meets around here but are all full) no membership required, wraps or sleeves you pick no separate division, monolift, no drug testing etc. Might be a good way for me to get my feet wet.

Well fuck. For a first meet. Absolutely recommend. That’s what they’re all about. They want to make powerlifting as accessible as possible without making it goofy.

If/when my old ass stays injury free to get some real serious training in to get my numbers up a little more, I would do an RPS meet as my first ever meet.
