So obviously insulin helps shuttle nutrients into the muscle and helps maintain mass but shuts off fat burning...

In a bulking phase how much would it help to add dextrose, or even a spoonful of sugar every meal to spike insulin if on bulk even through a cruise

Got this idea from a John meadows video where someone ate a chocolate bar every hour to keep insulin high to gain more weight -I’m on cruise- but would like to keep gaining a bit, already eating 3500 calories

This seems silly AF. The spiking of insulin without other nutrients than sugar is foolish; once glycogen stores are full that’s ALL fat gain. Just eat more food.

Are you talking about the Dave Tate diet video?

lol... WHY would you want to replicate that??? He was trying to move up a weight class in powerlifting.

Yup that video.
Idk figured if insulin is anabolic then adding dextrose to meals would spike insulin more and keep it elevated throughout the day

Figured it might have been a bit silly

You only want elevated insulin when the nutrients for growth are present. Otherwise it’s useless. Now if you had a chocolate bar and a scoop of EAAs...maybe a different story. But that’s only in the enhanced realm since we’re nearly always in an anabolic state with capacity for muscle protein synthesis.

We do not want high insulin all day everyday. I think you'll be much better off to research methods to increase insulin sensitivity.

A diet like that puts a tremendous strain on your health. Subjecting your body to constant high levels of circulating insulin is not good for longevity and will quickly become counterproductive. If you watch enough Dave Tate videos about bodyweight and diet you'll quickly find just how difficult life was for him at that size... and he'll be the first to tell you that he couldn't have cared less about his physique, he was focused on one thing above all else - a bigger total.
