Big guys, pencil legs??

So I’m doing my own spin on the “PHAT” program which I learned about here at Meso. I’m doing squats, and bench twice a week. DL are on bold from a minor tweaked back.

But tonight I was doing squats and then a full leg workout. I usually workout at 4am and it’s an older more mature crowd. Definitely some big guys in the morning but not like afternoon. Holy shit there was some big boys! I mean, hulk type guys and again some of these guys had these legs that looked like fucking straws. It’s unbelievable.

I’m not talking about your typical 26 year old kid on a cycle of test big, I’m talking these guys from the waste up looked like fucking Pro BB, veins busting out, traps ripping through their shirts yet their legs were fucking never touched once in a decade! WTF!!!

It was awkward to watch this. What the hell guys!? STOP SKIPPING LEG DAY IT LOOKS HORRIBLE

Id have to disagree mehn. With part of it anyway. I think the first thing women notice is big strong legs attached to a streamlined waist. Why you ask? Because its just south of the pecker. Focal point. Same with the ass. Id bet 9/10 times thats the first thing they notice. Its even more noticeable when you actually have a well developed set of wheels and posterior chain because infact most men especially men who even lift do not have these physical traits. Which is ironic isnt it?

Its even stranger the amount of dudes who refuse to take leg training seriously despite developing a well defined and strong upper body. But its EVERYWHERE. In every gym ive ever been too. They go..."yeah ill just be a runner below the belt and a BB up top". Look like a fuckin clown. Legs are your base. Developing legs develops strong people not just legs. Any one whos ever done a serious leg session knows how much goes in to it. How much it takes out of you. And its also a telling tale of a mans commitment and resolve to consistently skip the very hardest work in favor of the easier. Dont even bother lookin me in the eyes as ya walk on past. We already know how this ends. If i have the desire to willingly put myself thru such pain as a means to progress. What do you think id do to him? Its a measure of will and only weak men skip those tests

There have been several studies
investigating male body parts (really) and in summary women
see the upper body as protectionist and the lower body
(butt in particular) as a sexual equivalent.

Stereotyping aside a muscular build was seen in a more negative light than a lean build by many women.

Of greater importance only a minority of women cared about a mans build once they reached age 35. Not surprising those gals wanted to know what a fella does for a living.

Bear in mind while leg exercises, squats in particular, have been shown to increase TT levels, they are also associated with LARGE fluctuations in BP and cardiac workload, and that’s not a good thing.

Oh sure symmetry is important
but a recreational quest to look like Ronnie Coleman is ill advised IMO.

Moderation is key!

Interesting Dr. JIM. never thought of the potential cardiac stress. Makes sense.

YEARS ago I saw a competitive power lifter blow a cerebral aneurysm in front on me (I was his “fixation point”) while attempting to squat 980 lbs.

I knew things were not well when his nose started bleeding like a stuffed pig upon his accent.

There were two spotters in each side and none were expecting almost 250 pounds in their hands
in a split second. But they held their own ensuring a half ton landed on the ground rather than him

Nonetheless he died!

I did not post that vignette to scare folk but to emphasize the importance of training/technique (in this case knowing how to breathe) as a prerequisite to HEAVY Lifting.

Thats bc although BP elevation is an inevitable consequence when lifting heavy, valsalva release upon accent results in a considerable BP reduction.

So why valsalva at all? Bc the valsalva maneuver tightens the core abdominal musculature and enhances cardiac output both are required to lift these type of loads.

Oh and for those who don't know what the valsalva maneuver is ?

Try to exhale with your mouth (and nose) closed like youre trying to have a bowel movement.

Good point about the BP and cardiac load. I've recently worked with an older (60s) still competing successfully pro BB as coach and he's adamant about not going heavy - especially not on squats and deads. 1-2 plates and high reps, working slowly, pausing etc - that's his ticket for hypertrophy without excessive BP etc loads. In general he's opposed to going heavy he doesn't see the value in that. With a BB and health goal.

I think the not caring part about a mans build once they reach 35 is more of a reflection of MOST womans bodies(and mens) once 35 hits. That is mostly terrible and downhill. They let themselves go and project that on their view of potential partners. Because a nice, attractive, fit, muscular body is NOT in style. Said no woman. EVER

You’re misssing how a women’s priorities change as the years pass.

Younger gals like guys are hyperhormonal and are in search of a MATE while the older gals
(often with kids in tow) are searching for someone who is financially stable.

That’s not to say physical things
avail with little but a mans build
becomes a lower priority in women over the age of 35, esp compared to males of the same age.

This distinction is relevant bc IME MANY older guys (several being recently divorced) want TRT to
improve their build believing such a change will enhance their sex appeal and enhance their chances of acquiring THE ONE.

Let me put it this way Hugh Hefner had his choice of young gals, not bc of his build, but bc of his associations, contacts, and MONEY.

It’s also important to acknowledge Hef was certainly not overweight, which was viewed negatively by essentially all female age groups.

Once again stereotypes aside overweight males were viewed as less secure, sedentary with limited sex appeal.

Who says older guys are interested in women their age?

I just turned 55, my wife 2.0 is now 30.

She definitely enjoys my physique.

All women want money and what that buys, that's a constant.

IME, older women for the most part want stability and financial stability. when i was in my 20s (21-22y/o) i was broke but dating this gorgeous lady who was in her mid 30s, divorced with 2 kids... sex was great and we would have made it if i was a bit older. i was still paycheck to paycheck and for a female with children in her 30s, she wasn't about me spending time partying or even physique really. all of our arguments were along the lines of "when will you grow up and take responsibility?" "when will you get a better job" "why are you always going out?" lol

inevitably it ended. i couldn't give her what she wanted at that time. i just didn't have it.

this happened a couple other times but these times i didn't get in the bed with these cougars, they didn't even give me a chance once they found out again, at that time i wasn't financially stable. they threw out comments like "i'm a little boy and need to grow up" lol

that was my experience with older women. to bad none of them gave me a shot. we do alright present day

Haha I am still on wife number 1. She is 10 years older than me and we've been married 20 years. You are right in the beginning it was all about the sex. All our fights were about money so she was confused lol. Now it's always about money lol.

I always say to her “I’m only as good as my last paycheck!” Lol
I’ve been with my wife now 11 years. I can’t complain, we are good together.
