Glycemic Index of Brown Rice Vs. White Rice

White rice, depending on which white rice you're talking about has a WAY higher glycemic rating than brown rice . It also, again depending on the type of white rice, doesn't really have any nutritional value. Brown rice always has a lower value and always has more nutrients . Some brown blends are loaded with all kinds of goodness.

Can you digest the brown and absorb the nutrients, that is widely dependant on the individual. But is has more and in some cases alot more

Ever eat sushi? Like go stuff your ass with so much sushi that you can hardly move? Then an hour later you're starving, and 2 hours later you just ate everything from the fridge? Welcome to the glycemic rating of white rice.
 
True..... overall brown rice is the healthier choice. Anything that is less processed/refined will be. There’s just not a great deal of difference between the two when it comes to how the body processes it. However, if consumed in large quantities over time, brown rice will be the better choice due to more nutrients being in it.

Also consider that most people are eating the instant rice, which has really nothing in it. They're not eating jasmine or basmati, and even those aren't great .

I think more to the point, if your argument is about rice and nutrients you've already failed . Rice isn't something you eat for vitamin or mineral content. It's a filler and a carb.

I️ eat jasmine rice by the bucket loads when I’m bulking. But I’ve used it for my contest cut this time instead of brown rice and there’s been no difference at all in my look or in the rate I dropped body fat. As far as a carb source goes, there’s no difference in brown and white rice with me.

Ever played with taking fiber, like psyllium husk with your carbs to slow em down? To lower the absorbed rate?

I’ve never thought about using psyllium husk. Sometimes I’ll take some almond butter with my meal. The fats tend to slow down the process somewhat.

Yeah . I do the fiber with a cheat snack. Not sure if it helps :)

The study concluded that replacing white rice with brown rice would decrease an individual's risk for developing diabetes by 16 percent.” Good points you’ve made..but regardless brown rice is better long term for better overrall health.

I applaud your efforts to use research to support your ideas but you’re not applying the results of the study correctly and it does not support your position. Your study does nothing to support the notion that brown rice is healthier than white rice.

Brown vs White Rice - Which Is Better For Your Health?

White rice, and especially imstant white rice is worthless for any nutritional value. It's a carb and a pretty empty carb at that. Arguing that brown rice doesn't provide more nutritional value is on par with the flat Earth argument .

Whoever said brown rice doesn’t have nutritional value? I didn’t.

You should also mention the parts about brown rice containing phytates here which help prevent absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Another topic to touch upon is that brown rice contains higher levels of arsenic as well.

The article you referenced goes on about those things and deflects the issues by saying if you eat brown rice in moderation and as part of a balanced and varied diet, then those shouldn’t be issues at all. Logically continuing the same point, if white rice is included in moderation and part of a varied diet then all that extra nutrition from brown rice becomes basically moot.

You’re believing in something that’s just not true in any way, shape, or form. Protein spikes your insulin more than white rice does FYI.



You seem unaware that while brown rice does have more available nutrients than white rice, THE NUTIRENTS IN BROWN RICE ARE MUCH HARDER TO ABSORB, meaning, you end up with slightly more nutrients with white rice.

My suggestion is researching nutrition a bit more to uncover the truth instead of believing in parroted myths.

the people of Okinawa, who have the workd’slongest Life expectancy span, who also happen to eat more white rice than almost any other population (and almost never touch brown rice if they even do), have something to say about your “widely accepted...” erroneous belief.

@legendary I looked at those but didn't see many that I would like. Plus I think the macros are wrong. One of the meals had 4 meatballs and they tried saying it had about 60g of protein.
