Exactly! I'd rather do 405 10x3-5 twice a week than 275 10x10 once a week. That total tonnage thing applies to this and is how I try to advance.Well everyone does VOLUME training. Its a pretty generic question. Whether your a PL, BB, Strongman whatever. Volume is just a measure of work and intensity is a percentage of 1 rep max. Generally the higher your intensity the lower the volume. You cant do both.
Volume is like a tan. You cant go out on day 1 and tan for 2 hrs. Youll get burnt and flake and regress. A tan is a gradual process of utilizing as much sun as needed to apply a tan. The tan is then maintained thru continual exposure to the same stressors(sun). To get DARKER you would need to tan longer or more frequently. Same applies to volume training. Its a process of slowly adding more over time in the form of sets, reps, other techniques, less rest, more rest, higher intensity etc etc. Blindly adding ridiculous volume will get you no where.
