Bush caused the recession? because we're blaming the debt on the previous administration how about blaming the recession on the one before him. not to mention there's proof the Democrats had plenty to do with the recession as well. also, Clinton did not zero the debt. we had a surplus, but the debt was still there. Obama had plenty to do with the 20 trillion dollar debt we have right now. the debt we have now and the recession we went through was due to a multiple of things ranging from partial repeal of the Glass-Steagall act to the granting home loans to people that couldn't afford it to the growth of the government and waging wars we couldn't afford. we could all blame the left and the right for these things, but the financial crisis started before bush was even in office.
