What methods do you employ to be as efficient and intelligent with your meal prepping?

The thing that stands out to me the most is this guy:
I use him to cook my rice and chicken simultaneously. The chicken is juicy and relatively bland, so I can easily add whatever sauces I want to the final mix. Talk about easy clean up!

Are you shilling for this guy now?? Shame on you! Just kidding but I couldn't help myself. Plus the video is showing up, at least not for me.

How much of each do you cook at once? I need to look into buying bigger one. I got a small one for my rice and just grill all my chicken at once. Would be nice to fire both up same time.

3lbs Chicken in the crock pot before bed on low. Put it in frozen and the water melts off it and keeps it moist and nice. I then shred the chicken into 4 8oz containers of chicken. I use a low sodium bbq with only 2g carbs and 0g sugar- with a smudge of hot sauce.

For my rice I buy the in bag rice you boil for 8-10 minutes in a saucepan. The rice also has 0 sodium and 43g carbs and each bag is 1 cup so 2 servings.

On a strict bulk my go to meal is 1 cup rice and .5lb ground chuck in a container twice a day as my base. Very easy, 3lb ground beef in the skillet is good for 3 days.

Sounds good!

@GrizzlyMint About 1 pack of tenderloins, so maybe a pound or so... And about 1 cup of dry rice... Turns into about 2 after it cooks! The chicken steamed heats up WAY better than grilled IME.

I do basically that but with low sodium taco seasoning on the beef, and a bit of enchilada sauce on it when I mix it with rice :)

@Wunderpus is the rice cooker quicker than stovetop? I've been thinking of getting one recently... Was also thinking I should just get a big microwavable bowl and doing it in microwave. The rice I have been getting takes forever to cook!!

No, it's slower than the boil-in-bag stuff. That shit you're talking sub 10 minutes total... But, this rice tastes a lot better and you can make a fair bit more, as well as stack your chicken in there... I'm a huge fan of one pot meals like this. There are a ton of easy-to-use recipes that you can make in this thing, and it's also a great veggie steamer.... Love a multi tasker! I think for the chicken and rice it's about 20 minutes total, which isn't a real problem for me.

As a follow up, rice can sometimes be VERY boring. We make mexican rice, saffron rice, jasmine rice and long grain rice in this cooker, all are very easy and different tasting. The mexican rice is the best by far IMO.

Mexican rice def my favorite, plus it goes so well with spicy chicken. I like throwing some beans in with it.

This Jasmine rice I've been using takes like 45 minutes to cook. I've never used the boil in a bag stuff. I was considering buying a big ass bag of rice at wholesale and getting a rice cooker so I didn't have to pay as much attention to it as I do a pot on a gas stove.

I wish I could contribute some food hacks lol... Tupperware. That's my one and only hack I think. It has made all the difference for me though.

I buy the jasmine in bulk at Costco, it's so cheap. The rice cooker/steamer was from Costco too.

Alright I'm going for it! Going to have to look up some new rice recipes. Of course I say this and I was considering doing keto for a little while.. Lol

Speaking of, this is probably a good thread to post this:

Keto Delivered - Artisan Goodies for Keto Foodies

I want to try this delivery service even if I don't do keto. Some of the stuff they send looks very tasty.

Mexican rice.. But isn't the sodium probably through the roof? I'm not a huge stickler, as I find it only TRULY matters in a peak weak.. But I do like to stay under 3000 grams of it daily. And the only Mexican rice I find has 900 a serving.. And I'm 2 servings a pop

If you make it yourself, you can control that. I use low sodium REAL chicken stock, and just a pinch of salt. But yes, I'm not THAT sensitive to bloat from sodium, I just keep it smart. The green chiles really make this recipe delicious, highly recommend it.

If you prepare yourself you can add or remove as much sodium as you want. Ready made kinds are always going to be heavy on sodium though.

Cool. I'll look into that recipe. I don't mind my plain white rice with hot sauce at all.. But we all know you can't beat Mexican tasting rice

Nope! Another hack is reheating rice normally tastes like shit.... Try adding about 1/8 tsp of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter or some salsa to it before reheating... Makes it come back to life.

Haha reheating rice always taste like SHit to me man, that's why I do the bags as well. 8 minute quick fix for some perfectly steamed and thick rice. I could add whatever spices and herbs to the white rice after being steamed, mix it up and kick with some flavor.

About to grill some chicken, and I have my meal of chicken and 1 cup of rice around 4 today. So I'll mess around with some recipes on the Mexicano
