Cutting down.

i am currently cutting down just to start a lean bulk, i have read several pages that say if you start lean the body is more efficient at using those calories. i started reducing calories slowly and slowly burning up fat. my question is what are your guys opinion on reducing calories or reducing a small amount and doing more cardio/weight lifting to create that calorie deficit??

i am currently training 4 days a week in a upper/lower body split, i do 10 minutes of cardio on friday after leg day.

my calories are 2200 , 275g C, 49g F, and 165g P.
my weight at the moment is 132.2lbs

At 132 lbs you don't need to be worried about any of the nitty gritty yet. JUST EAT!!
i had been on a bulk but i overestimated my calories and got a gut even though my lifts went up and they have stayed up even while cutting down, i wanted to get down to some single digit body fat percentage

Bro you need to keep bulking and focusing on compound movements single digit bf is over rated unless you have some real mass on you

5'7" 132, Jesus wept. Grab a sweatshirt, stop obsessing about body fat and bulk all winter. Lift and eat like your life depends on it and you can easily add 20-30 lbs, you're rail thin. When spring comes, cut. Winter is bulk time.

im 5'7" and im 26

Ok,to accurately answer your question on cutting before trying to bulk: cutting can help with insulin sensitivity and promote "anabolic overdrive" when you go back to eating. Anabolic overdrive is when your body starts throwing on mass like crazy because you've been in deficit for so long. But your case is different, what are you going to cut to? It's not like you have any extra mass to play around with, or could stand to lose anything. I think it's in your mind, there is no way you cannot be lean at 132 lb. Right now you just need to eat man, eat and eat some more!!! I was honestly thinking you were going to tell me you were like 17 years old, but at 26 yrs old and 132 lbs you need to definitely be eating much more to effectively gain.

I think you are overcomplicating the process before you've even began. Stop thinking about it so hard and just eat!!! ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING

thanks i appreciate the info,,i'll be starting a lean bulk monday.

You need to be eating at least 4,000 calories a day, honestly I would eat more. 130 pounds man I'm not being mean at all by saying this, but I'm helping a girl that is 130 pounds 5'7 and she is skinny skinny other than her legs and ass.

Stay off aas and eat carbs and protein and fats, you will be amazed what diet will do.

thanks for the advice, i was eating 3500 a day mon-sun before to gain 1lb a week and it would be ups and downs, sometimes i would gain 1lb and sometimes about .5 or a .2lb.

Eat a pizza everyday, eat burgers, ice cream, and sub sandwiches. Drink whole milk. Go for calories rt now, screw eating clean and screw "lean bulk", worry about that kind of shit when you gain 50 lbs

Also, I wouldn't be so scientific and specific on your approach. Don't even count your calories, just pound food

Up it to 4000 right now then every week add 100 cals more until you literally cannot add anymore calories because eating is taking up too much time of the day. Don't care if your full and don't care if it's hard to eat that much, if you ain't training, working or sleeping you should have food infront of you.
