why do bodybuilders stay covered up so much?

From what Ive been told, it's to keep your muscles warm during workouts. I guess some will want to hide the acne. pretty ironic thou, you build to look better but end up being more self conscious.

I keep covered up if the gyms busy , I guess I'm just a paranoid fuck but I feel like people are thinking look at that posing cunt or fuck me look at that stead freak

Why the fuck would you venture into building your muscles just to cover them up all the time? I constantly see these retards wearing hooded sweatshirts and pants, even on a 90 degree day!! Pretty stupid if you ask me, I got into this shit to build my body and be proud of my progress, not to walk around covered up all the time. Its almost like some sort of mental fuck where the guy never thinks he looks good enough or something. I just dont get it. I suppose some people do it because they get sick of questions or the attention, but if they are sick of it then why the hell are they still in the gym. Seems to me like it comes with the territory, really no different than a chick who is anorexic or someone who is extremely obese, it's just another type of extreme. I wear a tanktop or T-shirt if its hot outside, I'm proud of my physique, fuck covering it up 24/7

I've always assumed that they're trying to take advantage of thermogenics, but I agree completely. I always see guys walking around in winter clothes in summer that I know are just stacked.

Hell, I've always walked around shirtless or with minimal clothes even when I was a fatty. I've got nothing to hide and you aren't fooling anyone with a puffy jacket

I'm no beast by any means at 5 10 204 now, I always wear a hoodie to keep my joints and muscles warm. Also works kind of like blinders for me, keeps me focused intensely on what I'm doing, also helps me shed a few extra calories by staying warm/hot during my workout.

I throw a hoodie on after lifting when I hit cardio. I also wear a hoodie when I do my back. Because I don't want to see my biceps. Want to focus on my back muscles. Rest of my muscle groups no hoodie.

Hmm,
thats a pretty smart trick Duck. I always catch myself checkin out my biceps durring back days. I will be giving this one a try to see if it helps keep the focus where it should be.

It is an obsessive compulsive thing, but often it defeats the purpose when building confidence is supposed to be a side-effect of getting fit & gaining size. The problem is as the 1st reply stated, that sometimes we get carried away and don't see ourselves as others do. However, I personally have learned to develop a healthier sense of confidence, and there's always a positive way to look at things, unfortunately, fear and self-consciousness can be paralyzing for some people, and so negativity is the dwelling zone for those who don't escape it.

Now on the other hand, some bodybuilders might be jacked, but there might be other parts of their body composition they are not proud of, perhaps lasting gyno from a cycle, or maybe they have acne breakouts. Again though, people judge less if they see a confident person behind the perceived flaws.

It's about channeling your presence a certain way...

I sweat too much to workout in a hoodie and it's also uncomfortable to me. Plus, I don't care about what other people think I look like.

I sweat very easily and I always wear a hoodie with my earbuds so I dont have to be bothered with mofos. It keeps me focused too. And I love the sweat! I wear my hoodie doing cardio as well.

I don't know about everyone else but I like to show off. Just a few days ago I was freeing my ass off because I had a tight fitting thermal on. Though sometimes ill wear a hoodie if its below 10 degrees:)
