Which would be 'better' for time gapping

Which would be better (or equal) when bulking/maintaining:

eating 700 calories once every 3hrs over a gap of 9hrs

or

eating 230calories once every hour over a gap of 9hrs.

Reason I ask is because I've always been traditional- 6-7meals/day, once every 3hrs, generally 600-700calories/meal.

but at work because i don't want to take long breaks i basically lay out of my food and eat a bit every hour.

im not sure what your asking, but ill go ahead and say i like cashews and pistachios between meals?
