Whey concentrate vs Whey isolate.

I have always used whey concentrate since its much cheaper than the isolate. But i have heard that isolate is much better and results in better gains. What do you guys think? Is it worth the extra money?

If you can aford the extra money then it is worth the money from my reading.

Iso is a more refined protein, meaning that it will give you more protein per identical serving sizes. ie, 25g servings of WPC might contain 17g protein, whereas isolate might contain 22g.

Its a minor difference and not the only factor to consider when figuring out which protein(s) you should be using.

There is also the amount of denatureing that goes on. The whey pro. fractions that you are getting digestability etc.

If you want to avoid bloating, gas, and even diarrhea, go with Whey Isolate. For people like me, whey concentrate is garbage.

I also fart a lot less since ive been using it.I got 5 lbs for 32 bucks since it was close to the expiration date from my local nutrition depot.

I like the Isolate b/c its easier to mix. No clumping or sticking to my shaker. Makes for a quick shake post workout.

Iso is always the way to go if you can afford it. I gets to your system quicker and is worth it. Search around the net and you can find some iso that is almost as cheap as the whey.

Does it really make that big a differance cmon

protein is protein.

I really would love to see two people with same bodytypes and same workout program put on 2 dif kinds of whey .

I bet you wouldnt notice a slight differance

I was at this party once and this girl who hasnt seen me for ages was shocked how big i got and asked me if i was on the whey , i allmost died laughing.

It depends on your goals, not just the quality of protein. A quickly digesting protein wouldnt be the best choice right before bed or while someone is dieting. In both instances, whey or caseinate would be better choices. For post-wo, iso is probably the best choice. But as Zeo said, there wont be any marked difference in results between the two. Plus, the higher someone's protein intake, the less that quality of protein matters.

Hey Bob, I thought that "iso" was WHEY isolate?

bingo as this is the primary selling point for bodybuilders. there are several fractions, such as lactoferrin, glycomacropeptieds, a-lactalbumin, b-lactoglobulin, imunoglubolins and other peptide fractions. yes, protein is protein but it is these fractions that bring about the anti-catabolic and immune-boosting effects, among others. and they are found in the highest possible concentrations in a properly produced wpi product, imho.
