what website can you find like a 5 lb jug of dextrose or fructose or some type of simple sugar to mix with protein for my post workout shake?

i've looked at a lot of the websites i know and have only found the NOW brand, which barely has any sugar/serving.

i'm using maltodextrin right now, but want more of a simple sugar.

Malto is an excellent choice for post workout. Dextrose is another good choice. Fructose would be about the worst possible choice.

As for where to get it, try http://www.1fast400.com/ or www.proteinfactory.com

Malto is alittle slower released then dextrose...... u can do 1/2 1/2 of dex and malto if u want a slower sugar also.... nows don't have that much sugar in every servering but that just might be how it comes...............

yeah, i wanted the dextrose just because it is released a little faster. but the malto is a lot cheaper (not the dex is that much) when getting like 7 lbs by NOW.

but is there that much of a difference between the dex and malto to enhance growth?

Listen to Bob. This may help.

The difference between malto and dextrose is so small that you would never know the difference. And neither will slow your progress any more than the other will. Both are completely fine, so just buy whatevers cheaper, so long as its not fructose. Youd be better off using sucrose (table sugar) than fructose.

i think i'm going to start using a mixture of 50/50 ... when i take dextrose i get really tired like an hour later..... i think it's because i'm comming off a insulin spike and crashing ..........

dextrose is also known as glucose if this is any help.

but does it have any real advantages over table sugar (sucrose)?

Sucrose is a polysaccharide(means many sugars). One of the sugars is fructose! The other is glucose.

I am aware what a polysaccharide is my friend, just didnt know if sucrose was as bad as the apparently dreaded fructose

Its only half as bad as straight fructose, but not as good as some of the other choices mentioned.

If you are looking for a cheap and local source of dextrose try the bulk section at your grocer's -- in with all the baking stuff yoou will likely find Corn Sugar aka Dextrose. Up here is runs about .12 a pound.

Don't know if this is allowed or not. If it isn't, Mods please delete this message.

I have about 20 lbs of dextrose that I am looking to get off of my hands. Anybody want it, shoot me a PM.

Not trying to nitpick....

While sucrose is technically a polysaccharide most nutritionists would probably refer to it as a disaccharide (two sugar molecules - glucose & fructose).

From what I've read (and a lot of what I post is from what I've read b/c I'm not a scientist...) fructose isn't bad as long as you don't overdo it or you're not on a keto diet. I think it's something like twice as sweet as dextrose and your liver preferentially uses it to reglycogenate itself - that's assuming that your liver is at least partially depleted. If your liver doesn't need it then chances are the fructose will get turned into fat by your liver. (High fructose corn syrup is thought to be one of the biggest contributing nutritional factors to today's high obesity & metabolic syndrome rates).

Also, for those of you into life extension stuff, fructose causes more cross-linking of your cellular proteins (it gums up the works) than glucose / dextrose.

Dexrose = pretty sweet & not too sticky in its dry form.
Malto = not really sweet & can get kind of sticky. Also more prone to clumping if you don't mix your powders before shaking. Mine seems to be kind of 'staticy' too.

Ryanmo - Fruit juice is generally high in fructose.

If I'm incorrect with any of this stuff please correct me.

Take care,
