Torn rotator cuff

Figured I’d post this here since I did it powerlifting. Pretty sure I tore my left rotator cuff last year overhead pressing. Finally went got MRI and xrays and it’s torn. Little more than 2mm. Not enough for surgery they said. My ins. Sucks and I already owe $2000 for the above. Said I can do rehab but I don’t wanna pay someone something I can do myself especially if it’s just a bunch of stretching. Anyone have any experience doing these? Thanks

Yea it took five years to get back to a good place. Look into other options TB500 bpc157 GH and if you can afford it stem cell. Focus on strengthening the surrounding muscle. But keep in mind not push things this take long time to help, especially if you try to push your active recovery to far. Don’t hesitate to take deloads inworkouts, weights, reps, and sets. Injuries fuckin suck!

Thanks. Yea it’s sucks. I was hoping to be back in half a year but I can see that’s not happening. I haven’t even lifted a weight for 3 months bc my gym just opened but it’s not 24/7 right now which I need.

before you jump right back into the gym grab yourself some exercise bands and look up shoulder stability exercises. Work on that for a few weeks and until you can do pushus with minimal discomfort.

If you want to expedite healing lots of growth, water, good vitamins, good food, and dont drink or treat the body ill. PRP injections can help a lot, albeit expensive. But you are still looking at a long recovery time to be 100%. And with shoulders you dont want to rush it by any means

If you spend a lot of time using the mouse with that arm, switch. I'm convinced that was the real cause of my tendonosis and eventual full tear. I know for sure my recovery was impeded by it. I still have some tendonosis 10 months post surgery, but it has improved a lot since I switched mouse hands.

Interesting theory. I switch driving arms for this reason. I swear I was developing differently because one arm (primarily the right) is generally holding the wheel when I drive. I do drive a fair amount for work.

No mouse. But I switched arms for other things lol
If you dont already have/use one get a back scrubber and use your bad shoulder to scrub your entire back. I know it sounds stupid but just try it for a week or so.

Also switch over to mainly dumbells for pressing movements. Let your hands /wrists go where they want to ease the tension on your injured shoulder.

And stay out of the "hole" on all pressing movements.

Ive seen a numberof RTC injuries and a large portion of BB extend minor tears into complete tears unless they cease barbell shoulder presses altogether.

A physical therapist can provide you with some shoulder exercises that may help but several months are required to completely heal even minor tears. Lift slow for a while and if it hurts don't go there.

I actually have only been doing push-ups for 3 months. Gyms been closed and no way to workout has helped. I don’t plan on really lifting at all this year. I know it will take a while. Thanks.

The other day I was wondering where you and some other members had been lately. Hope you get healed up as soon as possible.
Hey man how’s it going. Just living the dream lol up till the first of the year I was still working out untill I finally couldn’t take the pain anymore. Had a MRI done and just been resting and stretching. Did go to Hawaii on my anniversary so that was nice. I honestly hadn’t been on here in months, just depressed from hurting myself and I was so close to finishing my goals of 600-500-400. Was short on bench.

Have you ever looked into indian clubs for rehab? They are quite amazing for shoulders. And surprisingly harder than they look.

Yeah. The Sheik did it with 100lb clubs. That's insanity! I have 10lb clubs at my house I use when I'm just watching TV. Good way to keep mobility and ligament strength up. Also great for warming up those shoulders before heavy bench or shoulder workouts. I blew my shoulder out years ago benching 550 raw. Got it up but paid the price.

Since I started using the clubs I haven't had any issues pop up. But at the same time I haven't gone past 365 for benching either. At my age I have nothing to prove anymore. All about looking strong and healthy vs being able to press a house. PL days are gone for me unfortunately
