Are any of you familiar with 'The Ketogenic Diet' by Lyle McDonald? He talked about cycling your carbs either every few days or within the day depending on your situation.
I was just thinking about my diet strategy and since I struggle with staying 100% on task, I sometimes find it easier to do a Lo-carb diet where I can eat.
Of course, no carbs makes you weak so what I did was eat carbs only pre& post training. I would eat like really high glycemic stuff like a granola bar or handful of M'n'M's. Stuff that would be available immediately. It took me awhile to figure out exactly how many carbs I should take to get me through my workout with no extra.
I would take the carbs about 15 minutes prior to traning and had really good workouts. I usually didn't have any spillover. I actually got quite trim (with no help from chems) dieting that way. I didnt get catabolic at all which can happen with very lo-carb diets.
I know this isn't option #1 inmost opinions but sometimes you gotta do what works for you and is somewhat livable. I did this a couple eyars ago and am thinking about doing it again.
Anyone else ever try a cyclic ketogenic diet?
