Just made an order for some filters, and LL needles.
after the order, I got an email from customer support, asking a dozen questions, like business license, etc.
Do I need to reply, or is this just informational?

Dear [Santa Cruz Biotech Contact],

I am an independent scientist and can confirm that the items I purchase from Santa Cruz Biotechnology are intended for research use only and will not be used in humans or for clinical purposes.

Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Yes it worked. Today I got order confirmation, and it hit my credit card.

They’re simply ensuring they won’t be liable for “misuse” of their (completely legal if not intended for use on humans) products.

Also, “scientist” is a title anyone can use.

Since when else would I get a chance to plug this program, and I think many of us here on MESO are de facto scientists, I’m going to mention it:

Science as a profession is a recent development, for most of history it was the passion of curious, intelligent people.

“Citizen scientists” have a rich history going back before the founding of the US, with roots in the UK, and stretching back to the ancient world.

Not many folks know the Feds have long encouraged citizen science, have many programs supporting independent research, and opportunities to volunteer to work with agencies from the National Institutes of Health to NASA:
