Yeah, McCain is not providing much of a service to "We The People" with this bill.

The MLB, NFL, etc should stay out of the way of the general population. For those few athletes who said they took a supplement after failing a drug test, as the reason behind the failure are just misinforming everyone.

I signed it, unbelievable, There are some things the goverment just needs to back away from. The next thing they'll be telling us which grade of toilet paper to use "TO save our sewer system" Sorry goverment just pisses me off.

No one is misinforming anyone, it's the reality. Yes, there are pro-hormones that are steroid clones and yes they will obviously make you fail a drug test. The problem is so many people are getting messed up from taking pro-hormones because they don't know what they are taking and don't realize that they need a real pct for some of the stuff out there.

So do you really think it's right to sell steroids marked off as dietary supplements? I don't.

Without using names to who said what and when or why.
A NBA player failed a drug test and said he took DHEA, so, it must have been the DHEA to create a higher level of testosterone.

This player was summoned to testify under oath and admitted that DHEA was not taken.
DHEA took the blame, as the escape goat.

This is what I'm referring too.

Not calling you out or anything but can you show me a link to where it says this as I assume you are talking about Rashard Lewis.

"He tested positive for a banned substance (commonly known as DHEA) that was found in an over-the-counter supplement he was taking."

From what I have read and heard, he hasn't even said what he took to the public, alls he has said was that he took legal supplements. He tested positive for high DHEA and testosterone, my guess is he was taking pro-hormones but who knows.

Again he never said he took DHEA, he just tested positive for it and I don't believe he ever went to court.

...and if you aren't talking about Rashard Lewis, who you talking about? :D:D

If people don't have enough sense to research a product before they put it in their body....who the hell feels sorry for them???...I DON'T!!!..IT'S 2010 for god's sake...GOGGLE!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a LAME excuse!

The gov.t needs to regulate alcohol and tobacco....been KILLING people for centuries;)

Maybe you'll change your views when you have to pay over a 100.00 or more for a 5lb. tub of whey:eek:
If the bill is passed, your options will be extremely limited, and cost will be ridiculous!

The government does need to regulate alcohol and tobacco, but that will never change.

There is no way whey will be that much, you are way over reacting.

Sure you could say people should research and I would agree with you on that, but the problem is some of the stuff is hard to find research on and some of the stuff in the product might not be on the label and not to mention the garage made supplements, basically my argument is we don't know whats actually in the product or how it was made which is the problem.

And you know this how???..The bottom line is the gov't SHOULDN'T have jackshit to do with I put in my body,an if you don't think prices will skyrocket, and only limited supps. will be available, you are in denial.
Another thing....If you are ignorant enough to induce "garage supps." ...you get what you deserve!

You are overreacting, this bill will change nothing but get all the shady supplements off the market.

...and your an idiot if you think signing a petition will do anything.

Once AGAIN....EDUCATE yourself beforehand...IDIOT!

I was really bored at work yesterday so I actually read the original bill and the proposed bill. Wow I have no idea how anything has ever gotten done in Washington. What a bunch of double speak and terms that could be taken about twenty different ways. Personally I am against big government so I would almost always prefer they just stay out of everything. If I do chose to take a supplement I personally feel it is MY RESPONSIBILITY to accept the risks. That said I must admit I am amazed at how often people hurt themselves and then whine like babies and the news considers them "victims".

It is cool everyone in this thread cares but I really wish people would not call each other idiots for having an opinion. The good news is you most likely agree on 80% of what you seem to be talking about so maybe find a middle ground. Also based upon what I read the act would not have anything to do with standard vitamins and whey so really this issue seems to be rather fuzzy at best. I may also feel this way though because personally I only use Whey and a multivitamin so the rest of the stuff I really don't care about. It is good to see you all are getting involved regardless of how you feel.

Good luck,

Walter

You obviously have no clue about pro-hormones.

Why do you think pro-hormone companies release a product, have it out for a couple of months, then take it off the market, then a couple weeks later release the same product but with a different name?

Yes, I would call those shady supplements.

These products have illegal stuff in them but they are taking advantage of the system by changing the name and releasing it again some how.

I have not read the bill nor will I because I don't care, but I'm assuming they made it to stop the companies that are taking advantage of the system.

......Sounds like someone is mad because they won't be able to use their pro-hormones anymore [:o)][:o)][:o)]

It's TRULY OBVIOUS YOU DON'T have a clue when it comes to pro-hormones!
NOTHING illegal or shady. If you EDUCATE yourself prior to a cycle, and DON'T use them with reckless abandon, like so many teenagers with access to a credit card do....Popping them like M&M's,and NOT running a proper PCT,or not one at all. Then they(you),want to bitch and moan it's the companies fault:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The gov't needs to stay OUT of my supplement cupboard...PERIOD!
The mind is a terrible thing to waste!
Keep "assuming" things too:rolleyes:

Get a clue....DUMMY!

unfortunatley the supplement industry has proved to be incapable of self-policing, just like big agribusiness when it comkes to food saftey. i think everyone should have the right to buy and take product x, but it's now obvious that we need government to ensure that manufacturers put x in the bottle, and not 1/10 of x, or 10x. or sometimes a,b,c, and d without listing them in the ingredients.

truth in advertising, or suffer prison...a great many scam artists have made it for difficult more legitimate supplement suppliers to do business, and created political momentum for regulation that could EASILY go too far and unduly restrict our freedom as consumers.
