Protien Calories

Does any one know of an approximate guideline for calories per gram of protien? Also, when making up my diet, I use the Nutrition Almanac for finding info but it usually differs from what the label will say. Any advice on general guidlines would be appreciated.

About 4 cal/g same with carbs. As far as the labels vs. the book, I would go with the labels on the product.

My thoughts exactly. 4 cals/g for carbs and protein, 9g for fat and ~7g for alcohol.

I wouldn't really worry about calories per gram of protien. Just make sure your eatting 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per your body weight. If your 200 pounds, you should eat 200 to 300 grams of protien a day.

Ive also read in a bunch of places that calories from protein are less likely to be converted to bodyfat compared to calories from fat or carbs/sugar.

over consumption of food is what leads to gaining fat. sure your fast acting carbs are converted at a faster pace....bump kal-el66 - I go for the grams per body weight

It takes more work for your body to make the conversion of protein to fat, but you can get fat on a high protein diet. Ultimately, it still comes down to calories in vs calories out.
