Welcome again. There are different kinds of protein for all of this. I take pre-workout a product called american stamina,. Best time for protein is intake all day, but especially after your workout because your muscles are in need.

I take a shake during all those times you listed, sometimes even to wash down my food

ok obviously you have protein that comes from whole foods such as animal protein. you also have protein from dairy such as casein from cottage cheese. then you have your fast acting whey and its derivatives.

basically you want the fast acting stuff, during and post workout. ideally with some pwo carbs in the form of maltodextrin or dextrose or both. the combination of the whey and the sugars will spike insulin and shuttle nutrients to the blood stream rapidly.

the rest of the day it is prefferable to get your protein from whole food as it will digest slower and is also anti catabolic, especially while dieting.

hope this helps. P

One of the most important times to always ingest protein is right before you go to bed....while you are sleeping those 8 hours, your muscles go into a catabolic state...it is looking for protein, when it cant find it, it eats away muscle protein...also, drink some grape juice along with it...with its glycogen producing properties, it will help against protein wasting.

$.02

This is really strong advice, I saw some gain increases when I started to digest some protein before bed.

Also, the link above is a great source (cheap) for quality goods.
