Protein Intake

Gluconeogenesis. When the body needs glucose it can make it from protein, triglycerides, lactate, pyruvate, etc.
Thanks for the clarification doc. Very interesting.... It seems that it's easier for me to lean out when my protein intake is around 250g per day, compared to 400g. That may be why..

Not necessarily. While the metabolic pathways for converting protein or carbs to fat, de novo lipogenesis, do exist in humans, it's an extremely rare process and for protein specifically I'd go so far as to say it cannot happen unless in extreme circumstances.

In your 400g vs 250g of protein trials, did you keep total calories the same? Were there any other differences between the diets?

Everything that I take in throughout the day stays exactly the same, except the added calories of the extra protein, which comes directly from egg whites.

Age could be playing a role as well.... I swear it's getting harder to get fat off as I get closer to 40!

If that's the case then it's possible yes. The extra protein isn't being converted to fat but could be converted to glucose. By doing so your body needs less energy from the carbs so less fat gets oxidized in the end.

Age definitely plays a role also. As we age it becomes Jared to gain muscle or lose fat. It's just a part of the aging process.

Also, I feel that eating too much protein can cause this "GH gut" that we see. Ever eat a bunch of steak or meat in one sitting? that takes a long time to digest. Its just gonna sit there and back everything up until its all broken down.

Whether it be a protein daily goal or a caloric daily goal I don't feel comfortable going that low on cycle. No way in hell.

The same happens with a high dietary fat meal or high fiber meal or even a large meal in general. Digestion times vary depending on several factors but the ileal tract in the small intestine helps regulate digestion rates. There's nothing wrong with eating a high protein meal like a large steak. Athletes do it all the time and they don't have the GH gut. I believe it's more due to the fact of severe abuse of GH, insulin, etc and forced feeding like bodybuilders do not the protein intake.

Yeah I guess. Some foods digest better for some than others also. Everyone should just eat what they feel is best and we should all stop these silly debates on what's best. What's best is what makes us happy tbh

Increased protein synthesis should mean your body does protein synthesis easier (not needing as much protein) IMO. I much prefer higher carbs to higher protein. Makes me stronger have better workouts and bigger lol. My protein intake does not go over 270
