Wonderful article in the Atlantic. Interesting as I see the authors points. Would seem to fit our changing culture.

It sure seems that way at times. Both are being manipulated for selfish ambition, but I don't believe it necessarily has to be that way. The problem is that in order to avoid that people need to be informed and think for themselves. That isn't going to happen though.

Change doesn't seem to come without pain as an incentive. I believe that is in our near future.

Having worldviews and interests CAN be bad, depending on what the aims are, but having no religious or political ideals is de facto impossible unless someone is a principled nihilist (which no one is - anyone claiming to be a nihilist only does so in an attempt to get others to abandon the field).
